Both my parents died in November 2011, within 18 days of each other. While I was going through that grief my quilting took a major hit. Instead I started reading all the books on my shelves. Then about six months later I sat down at my machine one day and within a week had another queen sized quilt top completed.
All of 2012, Wayne and I were looking for a new house with an open floor plan. The incurable disease in my legs were making it very difficult to get around and…Continue
Hello everyone! Here's my latest finished project! Wahoo! I can't tell you how happy I am to have this done. You may not know, but I emptied my closet into the living room and decided it wasn't going back; it all was going to be finished. 95% of the stuff from my closet was quilting! Well, I wrote a story about…Continue
While binding a quilt in December I decided to finish a quilt a month. I looked around my sewing room and saw all the unquilted tops laying around yelling at me to finish them. So on a mission I went. So far I'm bearly on track. I get a quilt completed by the end of the month. I'm the only quilter in my family so I guess I'm just looking for a little encouragement or just a kick in the rear.
It has been seventeen months since I left my house and so much has happened.
There were the three months in transitional care, trying to 're-learning to stand and walk...which never really happened.
After Wayne died in April 2013, I didn't come up for air until about September. Had I not been so lost in grief I could have moved long ago.
As I think back, I only needed assistance for the first twelve days that I resided in Assisted living. If I…Continue
Hi All! I hope everyone had a great week! It's FRIDAY! Tomorrow is our monthly sit and sew at the church and again I'm in need of some girl time, and to GET OUT OF THIS HOUSE! Cabin fever is killing me!
I had no intention of working on this project today. I actually had it pressed and hanging neatly waiting on my free motion skills to improve. I thought about it for a min. and thought what the heck, the only way I'm gonna learn is to just do it! So that's what I did! I'm…Continue
Have been reading everyone's postings. I am really tired of the snow here in MI. Sun is out today and up to 40 so DH and I will be going out for a walk....fresh air...
I spent January making Hop to it applique quilt. I had purchased the book several years ago on sale for $3 and decided to use up some batik scraps. All except the background was scraps I have been collecting, including the sashing. I surprised myself by FMQ, it was not a hard as I though. I posted a pic. …Continue
I was just reading everyones posts and looked up to see the thread spools. Variegated threads. Woo hoo. I've been waiting for these for a while. I would love it if they had them on large cones for quilting machines but I've got my order in for the smaller projects.
Can you settle a disagreement for me please?
I say: fat quarters sold as fat quarters need to be 18"x22" NOT including the selvage edge.
She says: fat quarters that are sold in stores and online are measured outside the selvage edge and that edge is included in the 18"x22" measurement.
I've never (until now), purchased a fat quarter in a retail store nor online that even has a selvage edge.
