Another UFO bites the dust

Posted by Janet/MO on October 16, 2014 at 8:39am 20 Comments

A while back I made up a list of the unquilted tops I sitting in a cabinet waiting to be quilted and bound.  I made a note of which ones I want to machine quilt or hand quilt myself and which ones I want to have longarm quilted.  My goal is to finish every quilt that I want to machine quilt myself between now & the end of the year, which will equal doing one about every week.  Here is a pic of a Storm at Sea that I finished hand stitching the binding down on last night.  I still need to…

Long arm needles

Posted by enid wellman on October 15, 2014 at 11:33am 4 Comments

I am the proud new owner of a long  arm machine.  When I bought the machine, they sold me needles, size 18.  First 2 quilts turned out fine, using Warm & Natural batting, but the one I am working on now has a red backing & I'm using Hobbs batting & it is coming through on the back!  Not heavily, but very noticeable on the red backing.  My question is, why do I have to use such a big needle?

My Sister Jean

Posted by Irene Gallway on October 14, 2014 at 11:26am 18 Comments

Yesterday I took Jean to Bangor to have her breast removed.  The spot they had been watching turned into a very aggressive cancer that had to come out.  Her son is bringing her home tomorrow.. I talked to her this morning and she is feeling fine with no pain.  I made her some "ouch pouches" to wear to keep her arm from rubbing against her breast area.

My appointment for eye surgery had to be changed.  The appointment they gave me for the 20th was for the interview before surgery.  I…

Everyone's invited to my party....

Posted by Kathy/WA on October 13, 2014 at 6:25pm 8 Comments

That would be the rippit party that is.  :o(  I've been working on the LA and wanting to get another quilt top done.  Early on in this project the other half who shall forever now be nameless, made the remark that the backtracking really stood out on quilt.  Well that would be because of the thread.  I'm not perfect at the back tracking part of this quilting mostly because my Tin Lizzie stand has rails instead of tracks.  I've described this before as being loose as a goose when trying to…

Quilts I would like to sell

Posted by Janet/MO on October 13, 2014 at 12:29pm 11 Comments

I am getting ready to give a trunk show at my guild meeting tomorrow.  As I was looking through my quilts I realized that I have some that I wouldn't mind selling.  Do any of you know if Etsy is a good place to try to sell these or is that too saturated with other people's quilts?  Or do you all know of another venue that might work?

Quilts and bears

Quilt top “I’ve got the blues (now greens)” finished.  Off to the long arm quilter on Wednesday! Thank you to DH and DB for standing on chairs so I could get a good picture.  This quilt finished up at 103 inches square.

I had no idea that there was so much involved in making a fur stole.  But I certainly…
