Road trip

Posted by Irene Gallway on August 26, 2014 at 4:29am 5 Comments

I recently had an appointment for another blood check in Bangor. I'm doing really well as far as most of my vitals are concerned but the Dr. said my kidneys are only functioning at 30%.  She assured me not to worry that it could be normal for me. I have to go to a pathologist on the 26th of Sept.

My friend Sally took me for the appointment and then we drove down to her aunts in Southern Maine for a few days.  Bud had a fit about me going but I went anyway.  A strange thing happened…

peeps quilt

Working on the Peeps Quilt… 2 down, 20 to go! Since each one takes about a week…this will be quite the long term project.

Finished the Natalia Angel block on August 23rd.  I layered her dress using a textured damask and a cotton with a finished edge.  The pattern didn’t have any…

High Fiber—UFO-a-go-go.

I had several irons in the fire this week, but the big news is, I'm coming down the home stretch on my Delectable Pathways quilt.

I got the top pretty much put together yesterday. I still have some appliqué to do on leaves that cross over seams. There are also two seams to sew, left open to make  appliqué…

AQS show in Grand Rapids, MI

Posted by Janet/MO on August 22, 2014 at 7:54pm 6 Comments

I went up to the AQS show this week and was able to spend the day with another QWU member and her friend.  Had a great time and enjoyed seeing the beautiful quilts.  The show was much smaller than I expected it to be, but that was okay.  Made it that much easier to see the whole thing.  I drove to MI alone and it was so nice.  I stayed with one of my sisters and it was nice to spend time with family as well as see quilts.  Can't ask for more than that.

Tracks in the Garden

Hi, Sorry it's been awhile. I spent most of the summer outdoors with family working on all sorts of projects. We had lots of fun. Now I can get back to the sewing board.

Anyway I just finished a quick little embroidery project.

Like a kid in a candy store!

The Mariner Compass quilt is quilted.  It took me a bit longer than planned, hummm they always seem to do that to me.  All I need to do now is find the material I was using so that I can make the binding and get that put on the quilt and call it finished.  I ran into some problems with this one.  Sense it is set on point, I had to turn the quilt to get to the side setting triangles and had problems with the tension once it was turned.  I will work on that on the next quilt. I'm hoping to…

Back to School

Posted by Mary McIntyre on August 20, 2014 at 12:47pm 9 Comments

Today it the first day of school for my kids. It marks the end of what seems like a very short summer. Seriously, where did summer go? I had made a mental list of things I wanted to accomplish this summer, both in my sewing room and around our small farm. I didn't make many scratch lines through that list. But I can't account for the hours I seem to have lost either. I still haven't quilted my daughter's graduation quilt, because the new leaders I needed (wanted) are not installed on my… Continue

Birthday Cake

Posted by Janie Scoggin on August 20, 2014 at 12:00pm 19 Comments

My daughter, who is not a quilter, made me this cake for my birthday.  The scissors are real but everything else is cake, fondant and modeling chocolate.  It was delicious.  I would not let them cut my…
