The bird is in his new home

Posted by Irene Gallway on September 18, 2014 at 11:19am 3 Comments

Well Ladies you will be so proud of me. I didn't flood the parking lot in Bangor with tears when I transferred my beloved parrot from my car to his new Mommy's car.  The lady is lovely and told me that before her mother died she said,  "I know you have longed to build a bird sanctuary and I'm going to give you the money to do it."  Her mother lived to see the finish sanctuary and died knowing her daughters passion was being fulfilled.

I do miss him and his antics but know I made a…

Back home from our Holiday

Posted by Rebecca Sundberg on September 15, 2014 at 10:21am 10 Comments

And what a good feeling that is!

Holidays can be a wonderful thing – an opportunity to relax and recharge.  But there’s something about getting back home, back into familiar routines that can be every bit as relaxing. Especially when the holiday turned into an endurance test!  And oh, what a test it was.

The only ones relaxing during the last few days of this holiday were the dogs! …

High Fiber—Nesting for Winter, Part II

Posted by Peggy Stuart on September 15, 2014 at 8:30am 16 Comments

The quilt for Habitat for Humanity's Overall Ball fundraiser is coming along. I finished putting the blocks together with sashing, corner stones and a border.

This involved a consult with Janet and another one with Julie, as we were trying to get by with fabrics on hand. I was scrambling, but managed…

Plum Jam

Posted by Sue S. / OR on September 14, 2014 at 7:13pm 7 Comments

Since I don't have a quilt to show, I thought I'd share my day's work yesterday.  My 2 youngest sons and I picked plums from our loaded plum tree last weekend.  After giving away as many of those gems as we could, I still had a bounty of fruit.  I loaded up on sugar, pectin and 4 1/2 cup containers and ended up with this.  I now have Christmas gifts for co-workers and neighbors!  I'll be glad in December that I spent the time doing this!…

Mixed feelings

Posted by Irene Gallway on September 14, 2014 at 5:15am 15 Comments

On Tues. I will be going to Bangor to meet up with a lady who runs a parrot sanctuary.  We have decided it is time to find a new home for our Yellow Naped Amazon.  He is 21 years old and will no doubt live at least another 20 or more. He has been with us for 19 years, so parting with him is going to be really hard.  But with our age and recent health issues we made this decision for the sake of the bird to put him in a place we knew would be safe and he would be well taken care of.  So Tues.…

Zig zag quilt for my grandson Billy

Posted by Janet/MO on September 13, 2014 at 8:45pm 13 Comments

My grandson Billy is going to be 13 on the 18th and this is the quilt I made for him.  I called it "Billy's Path in Life" as he is very artistic and marches to the beat of his own drummer!  I doubt he will ever take a straight path ever in his life.  LOL   It will hang in my guild's quilt show in 2 weeks…
