The stowaways

Posted by Rebecca Sundberg on August 18, 2014 at 5:28pm 9 Comments

Warning – do not read if you have an aversion to rodents. LOL.

Back in early June, we had a short camping trip ( mentioned in one of my earlier blog posts) to Barkerville, BC.  What I didn’t mention at the time was that not only did the motor home transport DH and me, plus our two Irish Setters, Bailey and Lyric, to Barkerville and back, but also a family of mice!  They were living in a neat little nest in the engine compartment, and at night they’d sneak out and search for anything…

If you could ask...

Posted by Prairie Quilter/NE on August 18, 2014 at 2:43pm 3 Comments

At the estate auction I previously mentioned, my sister-in-law asked my cousin (the daughter of the deceased) if there was anything she'd like to ask her mother about after all of the sorting and cleaning of the home place.   My cousin replied that she'd ask her the story behind the obviously very, very old cedar chest that was stored in a corner of the garage attic (of all places) that held her mother's childhood mementos, along with baby blankets/quilts, and other keepsakes.  None of the…

Estate auction find

Posted by Prairie Quilter/NE on August 18, 2014 at 11:25am 13 Comments

I went to my aunt & uncle's estate auction on Saturday and bought a small box of miscellaneous sewing items - mainly for the two brand new rotary cutters (still in the packages).  But when I got it home, I found my aunt's raised-edge, quilting thimble.  Not only does it hold sentimental value, but it fits me perfectly.  It was a happy surprise.

Old friend and antique show...

Posted by Pam/NY on August 18, 2014 at 9:50am 9 Comments

Every year about 8 miles from here, they have one of the biggest antique shows on the east coast. One of my nursing school friends of 41 yrs. called and we decided it would be a fun field trip. Dottie is the type of friend that you don't see for years and you just pick up the conversion where you left off. We…

Chugging away on the Delectable Pathways quilt:

This is the last of three panels, and I only have two more flowers left to appliqué.

Week is getting worse

Posted by Barbara Graham on August 17, 2014 at 12:08pm 14 Comments

Please let this week be over soon and give me a better one. No word on the jewelry, the police department website to take the report didn't work, phone call--leave a message, we'll get back to you. No call back, yet.

Other irritants problems trumped by death of my old dog. Max the Australian Shepherd ran our household for twelve years--now he's organizing heaven. (Don't try to tell me dogs don't go to heaven, if they aren't there, I don't want to go either) Staggering loss.
