Another finish

I am having so much fun making these quick little quilts.  This one is called "Smiley" and is a design by Lynn Doyle of Bloominminds.  It is 16" x 19" and was a great way to try out the buttonhole stitch on my new Pfaff.…

Ready to wrap the last gift!

Posted by B J Elder/WA on December 15, 2014 at 4:19pm 15 Comments

This afternoon I made this iPad bag for my sister -- the last gift on my list.  It sure goes together fast!  It's one of Debbie Snyder's patterns - the Kerrie Bag.  Now for a bit of gift wrap and the task is done.

On to making truffles and other…

Woven scarf finished.

Done blocking and ready to wrap and give. (Watch after Christmas for photos of the gift items I made other than the rabbits. The kids don't read my blog yet, so I could show those.)…

Attn: members who like to read - Off Topic

Posted by Janet/MO on December 15, 2014 at 6:43am 5 Comments

I love to read just as much as I love to quilt and knit.  Amanda Best mentioned books by Fannie Flagg recently so I checked them out of my local library as it has been a long time since I read any of her books.  I just have to say that everyone needs to read these two books!  One is called "Can't Wait to Get to Heaven" and it was published in 2006.  The other is "The All Girl's Filling Station's Last Reunion" and it was published this year.  I found myself reading passages out loud to my…

The local casino always puts up a beautiful Christmas display. This year it was a 6-7 ft. high village. You could smell the candy throughout the main floor! It was very impressive...sor…

Blame it on Pam's jewelry tree...

Posted by Prairie Quilter/NE on December 11, 2014 at 11:21am 10 Comments

Pam's jewelry tree prompted me to share this fun story with you.

A few months ago, Mom gave me a box of my paternal grandmother's costume jewelry.  She was going to junk it, because she didn't want it and didn't think anyone else would, either.  (Grma had a TON of costume jewelry and these were the last few pieces that came Dad's way for some reason).

I thought it would be fun to put them in the Christmas grab bag for the…

Bejeweled Christmas Tree

Posted by Pam/NY on December 11, 2014 at 3:37am 19 Comments

Thought I'd share a gift we received from a very talented friend. She uses old brooches, earrings, jewelry to paint with!!! The photo doesn't do it justice! So ladies start collecting when you see a piece in a garage sale for 25 cents.

We are digging out of 26 in. in the past 24 hrs. Our DPW are great at…

My wonderful gift

Posted by Janet/MO on December 9, 2014 at 2:00pm 14 Comments

I have spent this year being both the president and the program chairman for my small local quilt guild.  The program chairman is really a 2 year position & I was half way through when I was asked to run for president.  I figured what the heck - I might just as well get all of my volunteering over with at the same time.  I know - good luck with that idea!  LOL   Anyway, one of the duties of the VP is making sure a quilt top is made for the outgoing president, which is given to her at the…
