Retreat Weekend

Posted by Donna Sykes on September 22, 2014 at 6:26pm 2 Comments

This past weekend nine friends spent three days crafting at the Mechanisburg Crafters Retreat Center. This retreat center is located in Mechanicsburg, PA, just outside of Harrisburg. What a nice little town. Very quaint. We were a group of four quilters, four scrapbookers, and one rug hooker. It was such a great time. Everyone was so productive. The workroom was awesome. It had the best lighting - which is so important when crafting.

The project I chose to concentrate on this past…

High Fiber—Monkey Brain

Posted by Peggy Stuart on September 22, 2014 at 8:30am 11 Comments

My Mr. F. is moving along.

He's still headless, but at least he has arms now. They look rather flabby, though. I need to take him to Silver Sneakers with me so he can lift some weights.

Mr. F. has been a major UFO since 2009, when I got two arms and one leg done (almost) and quit. Now he's…

Weekend Project

Posted by Catherine M. Tullos on September 22, 2014 at 8:00am 11 Comments

This is what kept me busy all day Saturday.  I still have borders and appliques to sew on.  There are 144 hst's in this quilt.  I am not sure that I want to make anymore...lol

I had two of my granddaughters over on Sunday.  They got to work on the quilts that they have started.  Then I just let them sew…

The Shopping Bags

Posted by Rebecca Sundberg on September 22, 2014 at 8:00am 7 Comments

I finished the three ‘Christmas Shopping Bags’ this past week.  Amazingly, everything went together really well and there were no ‘oops’ moments if you don’t count the two times I sewed the lining bottoms completely closed and then had to unsew enough to allow for turning the bags right side out. In spite of that, I’m really quite pleased with the end result and I think they look pretty good. I was surprised by how much time they took to make.  Somehow, I had the idea that this would be a…

County fair

Posted by Carol Vickers/OH on September 21, 2014 at 8:10pm 11 Comments

A little excited - my best year yet exhibiting at our county fair; 9 ribbons -- 6 blue, 3 red.  Such fun to see your work arranged so nicely for folks to enjoy.  If you have never entered, give it a…

A Round Halloween

Posted by Joanne Grimes on September 21, 2014 at 6:30pm 3 Comments

Here's another little embroidery project. It took one day less than a week to complete. It's a little odd and bit early for Halloween, so that's most of the reason why I called it 'A Round Halloween'.  The original design is about 20 years old. The border of the odd shaped jar is not part of the original design, but I added it to take care negative space. …

Christmas

Posted by Janie Scoggin on September 20, 2014 at 8:11am 7 Comments

My Christmas quilt.  Last year the top hung on the quilt rack for show during the season, this year the quilt will be on my son's bed when he and his wife visit for Christmas.  You can not tell from the picture but each square has a poinsettia quilted in the center, embellished with sequins and beads.  This was my…
