Quilt With Us

Quilters - I know over the years we have gathered spools of threads - various colors but wondered if you have a spool this old?  Attached is a photo of a "printers" drawer that I just inserted odd spools of thread - this is a decoration although I may grab a spool just for a few stitches for an alteration.  I am now basting a quilt and like to add a color thread on the line of the backing when there is a seam.  This gives me a good guideline when basting the top - so seams align.  Well, to my surprise I pulled this spool off the shelf - not used, wooden spool and it is a "Coats" Super Sheen with silicone product (not Coats and Clark) Dual Duty, Cotton Covered Dacron!, 100 yards - color 139-A and the price (not store sticker) is 19¢

I'm thinking I had better not use it - "antique"?  I know an older good friend gave me a bunch of sewing stuff when she had to clear out her mother-in-law's house an that was in the '70's!

Hi

I have a few of these and I still use them. I tried breaking one and it was strong enough to almost cut my hand LOL.
