Are you wanting to change brands?

Yes,
I've been looking at viking sapphire 850, Bernina Activa 230PE, Or the Janome Memorey Craft 6600P.and looked at the Singer 7470. I need some advice. Which one is a good one and the needs that I need. Its been awhile since I looked at sewing machines and the price.
Thanks
Sandy

You might also want to check out the Baby Lock Quest and look for a few different dealers nearby where you can take a machine for a test drive or if there is a Quilt Show happening soon near you, go to it and check out the various machines at the merchant's mall area...and don't buy anything the first day!!! Take notes, compare features and prices and slowly eliminate and then take the plunge. And enjoy the looking, it's half the fun.

In my book you can't go wrong with Viking. I love my Platnium 750. If I were going to machine quilt the Sapphire 850 would be the ticket, but I am NOT going to machine quilt. Anyway, I find Viking to be a workhorse, pulling what ever load I give it. Bernina doesn't speak my language. Janome is good but I have to think too much. I teach quilt classes, so run into all kinds of machines. Pfaff is a nice machine but the features funtions can be confusing. Singer seems to be fussy about thread and fabric. If I have a choice I ask for Viking, I know i will be able to walk in, sit down and sew no matter which model.

I agree with odessaquilter. Viking is definitly a workhorse, and the perks that come with a Viking can't be beat. I have a Diamond.

I want to say thanks everyone for your helping me picking out a new sewing machine. I picked the Janome Memory Craft 6600p. I just got it couple days ago and I love it. They took my old one for a trade. It was little cheaper then the viking. I'm very happy with it and I would recomend it.

Thanks!

Sandy, you made an excellent choice, I have a Memory Craft 6600P at my disposal, it belongs to a friend but the machine lives here.. I use it to machine quilt all the time... I also have a Viking Quilt Designer... I perfer my FEATHERWEIGHT to ALL these machines for piecing... I have about 20 sewing machines, I just love all kinds, perfer the old singers the most.. and the Featherweight being a true favorite. Enjoy your Janome, I know it's a nice machine..

Sandi, that's great that you've chosen a Janome...I love mine for sure! Although mine isn't that model...I just purchased the Pfaff Hobby Grand Quilter with frame and have been in quilting heaven for sure...my sis swears by her Viking...hope you have great success...I've test driven one and it was pretty cool!

I have the Janome Memory Craft 6500 love it the only different the one your looking at is the foot comes up automatic and a few more stitches not worth the difference. Love mind would not trade it for nothing.
I also have viking SE for the embrodery... Janome is for quilting...
hope this helps.. Go and try them and see what one fits your needs...
Good luck Sandy...

I had a small Janome when I was sewing odds and ends, then used it for quilting. Gave it to my daughter and got a Janome 4900 which I love. I think it was reduced because it was a year before model but I wouldn`t trade it for anything. Most important is to decide what features you want and use the most and try out machines with those features. Since we have so many machines made just for us quilters, I`m sure you can find one you will like.
