I live in Sunnyside but will retire in Moses Lake. I go to ML often to see my grandchildren and have become acquainted with the two quilt shops in that town. They appear very friendly and I can't wait to move and be able to get involved. Sunnyside has nothing..................
Well we aren't that far apart. I am a member of Basin Piecemakers in Moses Lake. We meet on the 4th Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 7 p.m. New members and visitors are always welcome.
Here in Odessa, we have Fronen Steppdecker, The Odessa Quilt Club. Our annual Quilt Til You Wilt is coming up on Monday March 16, at Heritage Church in Odessa. !8 hours of continuous quilting beginning at 6 a.m. until midnight. Go to www.odessaquiltclub.com for complete details. It is open to anyone who wants to come. We had 76 last year from all over eastern Washington and one from Montana. We have all sorts of quilting demonstrations, exchanges and quilting fun. there is no charge.
Well Carol, Sherry is closer, Sunnyside is near Yakima, and Odessa is 40 miles North East of Moses Lake. As Sherry says, There are 2 shops in Moses Lake and we have a great one in Odessa.
You can Do the Loop, Moses Lake, Ephrata, Almira, Reardan, Ritzville and Odessa all in one day. All top quality shops.
What community near Portland are you in?
Good Morning, Sherry..I live in Vancouver, WA. I have been quilting for less than a year. I have a husband who fully supports my quilt addiction and 3 cats. Started quilting because I was asked by a member in church to help her start a prayer quilt group. I figured I could at least help set up, keep records, etc. It must have been the right thing at the right time because I took off like a rocket. It has been less than a year and we have done 25 tied lap quilts, 6 of which I did from start to finish.
You are doing much better than me. I took a beginning class in Feb of 2000 and haven't finished as many quilts as I would like. One more year and I retire and I am hoping to tackel all the unfinished ones first. I go in spurts. And I work about 50 hours a week at the office, spend a lot of weekends helping with the grandchildren in Moses Lake, which I love doing. We are moving to Moses Lake when I retire and I can't wait. I have found a couple of neat shops there and want to get into a quilting group of some sort. We don't have any here - at least ones when I can attend. We had a quilt shop at first and then it shut down. But I have more fabrics than I need. I went a little crazy in the beginning. I told my husband I plan on using them all in retirement. Thanks for responding.
Wow, listening to you guys I feel kind of isolated! I live in Snohomish, which is this little-bitty town outside of Everett, north of Seattle. Not exactly sure where that puts me in proximity to everyone else, but i'm assuming North and West!
I grew up in Snohomish, graduated there in 1970. Snohomish is about 230 miles west and a bit north of Odessa. Are you going to the Quilt Show in Monroe 20-22?
Itty bitty must be in the eye of the beholder. I remember when we got all excited because the population of Snohomish sign got change to over 2000.
