Hi Annette: We are almost neighbors! I live in South Jersey about 45 minutes from Philly. I have not been quilting as long as you have but I sure do like doing it. I work full time but am looking forward to retirement in about 2/3 years where I can spend more time doing what I seem to love. Creating things for family and friends and watching the expressions of the gift are priceless to us.
Happy New Year and Happy quilting.
I'm from Phoenix, AZ but currently living in a suburb north of Dallas, TX. (Sadly, there is not the variety of quilt shops here as there were in Phx!). I've been quilting for about 8 years now. LOVE IT!
I'm in Frisco. If you haven't found "Happiness Is Quilting", it is located in downtown McKinney. You are correct there aren't very many quilt shops in the area. The closest that I know of it the one in McKinney and there is one in downtown Carrollton.
Hi Martha: I live in New Jersey and I have been quilting for about 8 years. I am not great by any means but I do attempt to do my best. I have given away more quilts and have only kept a few for myself. I did keep some table toppers and 2 lap top quilts. I have to finish a CT material quilt within the next few weeks. All I have left to do is the binding and that is making me nervous because I do not want to do it wrong. I am not a perfect quilter therefore the edges are not completely square. But my husband and I find that to be alright. It is not off by much at all and my husband Bill just loves the look of the quilt.
Hi I am Jan from Missouri. I am a retired 2 grade teacher that didn't even own a sewing machine until I retired. Now I cannot stand not to be working on a quilt of some type. Nancy a friend of mine decided I needed to learn to quilt. So she started me with El Burns after getting some of the basics I now enjoy all types of quilting. Mainly I do machine quilting but I wanted to do one quilt by hand. So, I did Grandmother's Garden.. King size, 7,654 hex blocks . All hand cut, hand sewen and hand quilted. Love doing the block of the month at our local quilt shop.
Wow Jan that is a lot of hex blocks and all hand sewn. YOu know I have had a Grandmother Garden cut out now I would say for 7 years haven't tried to finish it. Well another UFO to finsh.
You should be very proud of yourself.
