These are my favorite shops near where I live:
When you are in the San Antonio area, you can't miss Las Colchas just north of dowtown.
Las Colchas
San Antonio, Texas 78212

About 30 miles northeast of San Antonio, in New Braunfels, you will find
The Quilt Haus:
651 N. Business 35, #510,
New Braunfels, Texas 78130

Oak Leaf Quilts:
225 S. Seguin Ave.
New Braunfels, Texas 78130
Exit 187 off I-35

If you are heading into the Hill Country, don't miss Creations in Kerrville:
1013 E. Main
Kerrville, TX 78028
(830) 896-8088

There are many others in the San Antonio area, but these are the créme de la créme! Have a good trip!
Sorry I've been out of the loop the past couple of months. I've been doint lots of quilting and not much on the computer. I'll post today some of the Quilt stores I've been to this summer. School started (I'm a librarian at a junior college) and we are up 20%, in a new building and things are hopping.
Wow are you quick!!! Thanks much. I was at the Quilt Haus this weekend. Lots and lots of new fabric from the (new 60's) I call it. I even met the author of the French Braid book that's out. Very nice lady. She has a second book out on the same subject now.
Wow to you? What day were you at the Quilt Haus? I took a LA class there Saturday morning to be able to use the HQ16 Deanne has so I can machine quilt some of my tops - I'll still hand-quilt my favorites. Rusty (Jane Miller) was working Saturday morning. If you want a really special weekend, look into one of the Quilt Haus' retreats. They are all held at Newk's Resort just outside of New Braunfels and the food and facilities are super. Rusty usually has a French Braid retreat each year, but I'm not sure if it is already past or not. I took it last year and learned a lot.

Hey Kit,
I was at Quilt Haus late Sat afternoon. I visited my son in Austin that morning. My friend and I travel down to stay the night with folks at Canyon Lake and take in the Quilt Haus and the Meat Market at New Braunfel, TX. Always come back with fabric and excellent meat.
I live in a small town out side of Ft Worth Tx. My favorite quilt store is The Cabbage Rose on Vickery St. They have a website its fantastic, another great store between Dallas and Ft.worth is the Quilters Stash in N. Richland Hills, tx. they have a great selection. Both are found on the internet.
There is one Quilt store in Livingston, I have been in one time looking for a particular piece of fabric. They are not open on Saturday which makes it hard, because I live in Livingston and work in Lufkin, it is closed by the time I get home. They have a nice store and they are located at:

712 N. Jackson Ave.
Livingston, TX 77351
Phone: 936-327-8817

I usually have to go to Humble to It's a Stitch to get what I need. The ladies there are so nice and helpful too.
Catherine, Jean has the shop open in Livingston on the Saturdays that the Red Barn Quilt Retreat has a group in. You might call and ask her if she's open on any particular Saturday. And there is a sweet shop in Hemphill (closed on Monday), and the one in Trinity is really nice.
There are some great shops in the South of Houston area:
Calico Cats
Lake Jackson, Texas

Quakertown Quilts
Friendswood, Texas

Pinwheels & Posies
Dickinson, Texas

My favorite store is very far from me. It is northwest of Houston, at Barker-Cypress and Hwy 59:
Houston, Texas

Carol CP from TX
Paula invited me to shop with her last Tuesday at Quiltworks in Cypress. It's the Skinner Rd. exit off Hwy. 290. I loved the store. It's full of great fabrics and the interior is bright and spacious. The staff there was very friendly and helpful to us also. I highly recommend a visit to Quiltworks in Cypress, it's just a little North of Houston.
I agree with you about Quiltworks. I've been taking Stumpwork (raised embroidery, Brazilian, Silk ribbon, beading, etc) classes from them since last year. Very Victorian.
