Thank you for the New Year wishes, I am beginning to get organized already the last 2 days and all day today for NYD today. My New Year's resolution is getting my fabric organized (one more try -- this year 2010) I removed the fabric from the plastic bins, the bins were taking up too much room and I couldn't even lift them to see inside them -- still although they are see through. I may have to go through an entire stack but I can now see it. Any organizers out there have better ideas.... sorted by color, plaids and prints. My shelves are full, where will I put the scraps now.

Hi again ladies! I've been unable to access this site for a couple of weeks now but have kept trying. Tonight I was able to get in... some kind of computer glitch I guess.
Thought I'd just send out a quick hello to you all. We've been hauling firewood all day so I'm ready for a quick shower, dinner, and bed. Tomorrow will be spent splitting and stacking, so by Monday my arms will be ready to fall off! LOL At least we're getting it in before the snow flies. Once we get everything buttoned up for the winter I can finally get back to my sewing room. Yea!

Marcia, thanks for the post about camping, we really want to drive there someday. I tried looking up the mileage once and thought it was 10,000 miles big grin. I discovered it's only 4,000 from UT I'm not sure we'll ever drive there but I love camping with all my own stuff -- we do take everything including the kitchen sink. We loved our vacation there for 2 weeks and desperately want to go back but I don't know if we'll ever get to go again. I look at it as a chance of a lifetime.

We have a 5th wheel (trailer) and love to travel the state. If you're looking for a camp spot near Seward, our favorite is the Stoney Creek RV Park. It's clean, peaceful, and beautiful. Their website is www.stoneycreekrvpark.com. Look them up if you get a chance.

We usuallly fly and then rent a car and stay in different hotels as we drive around because I still work full time I go up in 7-10 day increments. This year because we had trouble getting some hotel and car rentals we rented a motor home in anchorage and will drive down to Seward. This will be a new thing for us. We've never done the motor home thing before. I'm looking forward to only having to unpack once.

We live about 30 miles north of Anchorage in Chugiak. I commute to south Anchorage for work and my husband works construction all over the state. Fortunately, he's working on Ft. Richardson right now which is only 15 minutes from home.
So Seward in August means he'll probably be fishing for silver salmon and halibut. Seward's a nice spot. August can be rainy, but we've had a great summer so far, so we'll hope for the best. But if it rains... you can still sew. :-) Do you guys RV it or fly up?

Our next trip is in the middle of August. Before I go I prepare some blocks for hand applique so I can keep quilting on vacation. Usually we go all over. Been to Prudhoe, Cordova, Homer. This year it's Seward again. We didn't decide to go until a few weeks ago and had a hard time getting reservations so we'll just go spend time in Seward. My husband fishes and I quilt, paint, or read. We make a great pair. Where do you live in Alaska, it's such a big state. My hubby would move there if I said yes.

Absolutely Roseann! The more the merrier. I hope you are getting some time in Alaska this summer. It's the best summer we've had in a while. Last summer was cold and wet, followed by a frigid winter. But we've had temps in the 70's for a couple of weeks now. To nice to be inside quilting, though, so my sewing room is gathering dust right now. There will be plenty of cold days later for quilting. LOL
