It's that time again! Deborah is back for June's pattern, and she's really outdone herself this time! Those birds are just so adorable, and we love the 3D flowers too. Everything looks so colorful and lifelike in our batiks. This month you'll use all of your knowledge from previous months because Deborah's pulled everything from her bag of tricks with paper piecing, regular piecing, applique, and a little embroidery.
WOWEE, FINALLY NEW BLOCK! I love it. I love bluebirds.
Here is my version of June's Block:
I had so much fun making this block and I am really pleased with the results. My stitch in the ditch quilting even turned out. It was fun picking out the fabric too. I decided to use red for the birdhouse so it would look more like a barn and green for the background, which is the pasture behind the barn! Also I used seed beads for the birds eyes instead of french knots. Soo cute!! Here are the fabrics I used:
Background: FQ 2398 Dobby-Lt Fern Golden Afternoon
Barn: 10" Square 2413 Texture-Dk Pepper Golden Afternoon
Roof: FE 3539 Basketweave-Nut Brown Quilter's Candy Country
Pieced Section: 10" Square 2666 Mirage-Indigo Quilter's Candy Country
and 10" Square 3712 Stripe-Citrine-Batik Paradise
Post: 5" Square 2630 Vines-Weathered Wood Quilter's Candy Country
Hole: 5" Square 3773 Nest-Weathered Wood Birchtree Lane
Vine & Binding: FQ 2665 Mirage-Evergreen Quilter's Candy Country
Flowers: 5" Square 3699 Jungle-Beach Party & 5" Square 3711Stripe-Carnelian Batik Paradise
Birds: 5" Square 2543 Nebula-Celestial Batik Paradise
I love it, Teri! I am seeing things. For your barn fabric, I read 'Dr Pepper'. I must be thirsty. Is it 10, 2 or 4?
