The Blocks Above are:

The blocks shown in the photo above are some of the blocks I received from a previous block swap within my quilting bee in Alvin, TX. The theme was a Christmas Swap and we had 25 members sign up for it. The instructions were to make a block for each participant (and one for yourself) from Christmas fabric. They could be any color, or combination of colors as long as they were Christmas Fabrics and had a creme colored background. We were told that we could use any block we wanted and any technique we wanted, applique, paper piecing, traditional piecing, etc. At the end of the challenge, we discovered that no block had been duplicated and none of the fabrics were the same. This was all accidental, since no one knew what the others were doing. Can you believe that 25 women who sewed together every Tuesday could keep secrets for such a long time? I made a table cloth for my dessert table from them. Thanks for joining our Group!

Are there any people interested in doing a row by row quilt?

colours? I think we should be able to specify that eg pastel brights batik blue and grey. also if there was an even number of people eg 6 or 8 each person could do a row of applique as a centre  row making all quilts very different.

I like that Idea Megan how would colors work ?

We pick our own color or a theme  like plaids or batiks or solids, fall or Christmas?

Hi Carol
I wasn't thinking of a Round Robin quilt..... A row by row quilt is what I mean. A row of stars, a row of houses, a row of tulips, etc. the size of the block would be the same for each row. If you had 12 people, each person would decide on the pattern for one row...everyone would make 12 blocks , keep one for themselves and send one to every other person. This would happen each month. At the end of a year or the number of months of participants(7people 7 months) you would have a row by row quilt.
It would just need borders put on to complete the top.
If a person dropped out row could be extended to right size by adding sashes to a row, making an extra block yourself....

Hi Megan from Australia, we had a group on quilt with us, called Round Robin's Nest, but one of the members passed away in the middle of the challenge and the group just stopped. Check out the group site to see what we did!  It was loads of fun!

Hello my Sister's!  I hope this post finds you well! No one in my family was caught in the floods. I feel very blessed that we were spared, but, I feel very guilty because we did not have to go through what the other people are going through. Houston is a strong town and we will bounce back stronger than ever. International quilt Festival will happen on schedule the end of October and the beginning of November. If you are coming to Festival send me a post so I can meet with you. I have a friend who I met online and she is coming in with three of her friends from Australia. I cannot wait to meet her and I'd love to meet any of you if you were coming. Let me know how you're doing. And I will start checking to see if any swaps are going on. If not, I may start one up! Love to all, Carol.

LOVELY UGLY CHALLENGE

Link to poll: Permalink: http://16300751.polldaddy.com/s/lovely-ugly-challenge-polka….

I have had a few issues brought to my attention regarding the polling process. My apologies and I have fixed them. If you have any other issues, please let me know.

1. Link to photo has been fixed. Use this link:https://cozyquilts.wordpress.com/. It is the first post on the page as it is fixed and will stay that way until the poll closes.
2. Voting. You are allowed to vote multiple times, so if you were confused by the issues, please try again.
3. Drop down choices. That has been fixed. They are all now listed and you can choose from there. Somehow it got screwed up and was giving radio buttons and I missed that. My apologies for the mess.
4. Categories. There are 3 categories, self-explanatory. Most Creative, Most Original and Best Camouflaged. Or you can choose none of the above if you wish.

Thank you again for letting me know about these problems. I am trying to fix what I can and did not know about these until it was mentioned and I thank you for that. Have fun voting!

My FB page, Scrappy Quilters is doing our third annual Lovely Ugly Challenge, Polka Dots 2017.  Here is a link to the poll.  It's a lot of fun:  Permalink: http://16300751.polldaddy.com/s/lovely-ugly-challenge-polka-dot-2017.

The Gypsy Wife is very different, but I think I will stick with the Splendid Sampler.

I followed it when it was released for free online last year, but did not start it. This year I have the book and have started to do some of the blocks before stopping for illness and then renovations.

It suits me to go back to it as it is a project I can do by hand and take to my Courthouse group. If we followed Pat Sloan's page for it we would be doing the same block as each other every week or even a bit faster.

I would be up for a swap
