The Blocks Above are:

The blocks shown in the photo above are some of the blocks I received from a previous block swap within my quilting bee in Alvin, TX. The theme was a Christmas Swap and we had 25 members sign up for it. The instructions were to make a block for each participant (and one for yourself) from Christmas fabric. They could be any color, or combination of colors as long as they were Christmas Fabrics and had a creme colored background. We were told that we could use any block we wanted and any technique we wanted, applique, paper piecing, traditional piecing, etc. At the end of the challenge, we discovered that no block had been duplicated and none of the fabrics were the same. This was all accidental, since no one knew what the others were doing. Can you believe that 25 women who sewed together every Tuesday could keep secrets for such a long time? I made a table cloth for my dessert table from them. Thanks for joining our Group!

I've heard of the Gypsy Wife.  Do you have the book Kate?  Sounds fun.  Might do that someday.

If you're interested in doing the Splendid Sampler with Donna and me can you let us know.
I followed it unfold last year but didn't start. This year when I saw the lovely quilts being shown online I bought the book but have not kept up.... Illness and renovations...but am now itching to get back into it.

I was think you pick your book and pattern and work on your own or we could do one together

Possibly a swap.  Bit maybe just showing off our blocks might be better.  Postage can be expensive.

I'm also trying to think of how you would do it as a row by row quilt with a group

OOPS!  I misspoke.  Thought I had saved them.  My computer crashed earlier this year and I lost those files.

Or an alternative could be an exchange if there was enough interest"...blow the blocks up to 12". Each person chooses a block, maybe colour theme and exchange blocks...would need 12 people

That's fine with me.  I saved most of the links from last year and can send them out if you want.  I wanted to try and make it last year but didn't happen, still on my wanna do list.
