I haven't really made clothes for years, but you really don't forget what you learned. I know she'll love it and my DS and DDIL are appreciative that I baled them out - they found a Frozen dress at the Disney store for $100! What I don't understand is why all the pattern companies that have the Disney license didn't see any of this coming. I was speaking to a couple of the people I know at the store and they said they've lost count of the # of people who've come in with the same plan. I looked online and the people who are making $$ on this are the ones making their own patterns & selling them. Oh well, Simplicity/Butterick's loss. I just hope Disney doesn't  get their act together and decide to send the internet sellers cease & desist orders.

I stopped in to the Joanns in Columbia MO today & they didn't have it there either so I will order some from Anne.  I like to support the small independent designers anyway so it is just as well and it is very inexpensive.

Barb, have fun making Lily that dress.  I remember the few times I had to make my dgd Cheyenne things at the last minute.  The one I enjoyed the most was a poodle skirt when she was about 6 yrs old for a 50's day at her school.  I don't really enjoy making clothes that much, but fortunately that was a very easy skirt to make.

I looked for the Designer's Lite, but didn't see it. So that means we'll probably have to pay more online. :(

I found the pattern I'm going to use - a Disney Princess dress that I can modify; got the required fabric + fabric paint & gold ribbon for the trim. Here we go...

You are going to be busy busy busy QD.  I'm sure the dress is going to be wonderful!

Janet, I have to go to JoAnn's tomorrow - I'll see if they have it.

Why am I going to JoAnn's you ask? Oh, the things we do for our grandchildren...tonight DS texted me to ask if I would be able to make an Anna from Frozen dress for Lily...no problem...the catch I later found out? She's having a Purim parade at school on WEDNESDAY!! I was online tonight and found some simplicity/McCall's princess patterns that I can adapt - Lily's hips really can't hold up a skirt - no 4-yr-olds do, right?), so I'd rather make a dress. Instead of stencils or embroidery on the skirt & bodice, I'll just paint them - it's not gonna be high couture, but I think I can make it work.

We all must have been reading her e-mail at the same time.  LOL  A friend of mine has used this product and she said it works great.  The only question I have is whether Anne Sutton was referring to hand quilting or machine quilting when she said it doesn't interfere as my friend's quilts were longarm quilted.  I also wonder if you can find this at your local Joanns as they carry other Pellon products.

I was thinking the same thing QD, about what she would recommend.

BJ, that looks good. I also saw the Bunny Hill Blog today. I usually don't use anything behind my embroidery, but I understand why that would be a good idea. I'd be interested in hearing how it goes. I love her work, so I'm guessing anything she recommends will work well.

DJ, I often use muslin but this product should be lighter so easier to sew through.  Would the thread show through this?
