Oh, I am so sorry. It is a big change and adjustment in your lives. We went through that a couple of years ago and we didn't really know what to do with ourselves. I am hoping for no fires too. It is so bad this year!

Hi Judy, Life has been so busy that I've not gotten much sewing or stitching done for a while. My mom died last month and I'm adjusting to life without her. After caregiving for 7.5 years it is a change.  My work here at the Retreat keeps me busy, too, but I do enjoy it. We are holding our breath over here hoping for no fires. The river is low and the trees are so dry.

I had a table topper just the other day that was made with red fabric, embroidery, and buttons. When I spritzed it with water to take out my water soluble quilting lines some of the red (from one of the fabrics) ran onto the white where my embroidery and buttons were. I never planned on putting it it the washing machine so I dabbed Oxi Clean on the red and was amazed it all came out!!

Try using those color catchers to pull the red off the fabric. A friend of mine several years ago had a lot of red bleed onto the white of her quilt and the color catcher pulled it out.

Love the personalized changes you made to your quilt Agnes. It's wonderful.

Margo--Could the problem be that the fabric is absorbing any residual dye. I pieced a scrappy red, white and cream top and a red broadcloth backing. Even with lots of previous washing the red discharged dye. Only one of the cream fabrics absorbed the red. The rest remained in their pure and bright state.

Tx Judy for your reply-   I used some red  DMC on Crabapple hill pillow pattern " Trim the tree" and had a bit of  "bleeding" into the white-let me know if you find any other info and I will keep looking  need to upload  a pic of my pillow...
