Hi Judy, Life has been so busy that I've not gotten much sewing or stitching done for a while. My mom died last month and I'm adjusting to life without her. After caregiving for 7.5 years it is a change. My work here at the Retreat keeps me busy, too, but I do enjoy it. We are holding our breath over here hoping for no fires. The river is low and the trees are so dry.
Hi BJ I haven't seen you for a while.
I had a table topper just the other day that was made with red fabric, embroidery, and buttons. When I spritzed it with water to take out my water soluble quilting lines some of the red (from one of the fabrics) ran onto the white where my embroidery and buttons were. I never planned on putting it it the washing machine so I dabbed Oxi Clean on the red and was amazed it all came out!!
Try using those color catchers to pull the red off the fabric. A friend of mine several years ago had a lot of red bleed onto the white of her quilt and the color catcher pulled it out.
Love the personalized changes you made to your quilt Agnes. It's wonderful.
Tx Judy for your reply- I used some red DMC on Crabapple hill pillow pattern " Trim the tree" and had a bit of "bleeding" into the white-let me know if you find any other info and I will keep looking need to upload a pic of my pillow...
Very nice Agnes!
Agnes, I like your personalized blocks in the Vintage Tin. Great job.
Good question Margo. Years ago there was a list of certain colors that had to be rinsed with salt or vinegar before using but I haven't seen anything lately. I looked at the DMC website and they said "Colors are 100% colorfast and fade resistant." I didn't have any problem with black while I was stitching but haven't washed my quilt. I would like to know the answer to the red question too.
I'm also working on winter wonderland- but am wondering did you do anything to keep the red color in the thread from "bleeding" into the background while you are working?
I hope your specialist makes it so you can stitch again! After I finished the Over the River I was ready for a break. I have been finishing up some other hand projects before I get started again. I want to make the Witch's Boot.
