Love those huge sampler quilts with tiny blocks (like a Dear Jane quilt) but don't feel quite up to making one? Then this group is for you! We will be making one using larger (six inch) blocks and our quilt will have ONLY 140 blocks.

Welcome Fellow Slackers!
I will be making the blocks in the same order as they appear in the quilt not how they are alphabetically listed in the book but you are free to make them in any order you like. Each week pictures and tips will be posted in the Discussion Forum. Since some of you will be making them in the order they appear in the book or in no particular order we will include those blocks in the discussion too. A list of each block has magically appeared and you can post your tips and/or pictures under the blocks you made. Everyone is encouraged to add tips and/or pictures of their blocks. Our only rule is that each block has to be different. Let the fun begin!

OK, I have Mosaic #3 finished. Just can't seem to get a sharp picture today. Keep telling DH I need a tripod.

Comment by Kim Simcik on June 15, 2009 at 11:03am - Ok everyone. I just received my book on Saturday, had the binding cut off yesterday and put it in the sheet protectors today. This is midterm week for me (everything has to be in tomorrow by midnight) and I plan on spending this week working on my first three blocks. This will be my therapy from school. Heaven only knows that I need a diversion.

I'M STUCK HERE AT WORK AND i WANT TO START MY SBS BLOCKS! I'll be at the wheel tonight so, be ready for tomorrow girls (and one boy).

- I've given it more thought, and I think it is better to have the whiners be public with their whining. I like it here where everyone has a chance to see it - I don't want any of you to have to waste valuable quilting time searching for the whining. So, I have made an executive decision to delete the Whiner's Corner because, after all, whining is a big part of the "Slackers Code" Will that affect the frequency of the whining? Unlikely, as Paperplate Mari, will probably whine more if she has a larger audience. Oh, and that goes for you too, Diane!

The first block (Mosaic No. 3#) was so easy, I decided to also make the 54-40 or Fight block. Be sure you see Mari's tip on the block. That makes it go together super easy. So now all I have to make is another .7 for the week. I'm glad you all went back to bed at midnight. You definitely wouldn't have been true slackers if you'd gotten up and made a block.
