Debbie thank you for telling me how many hits it takes for you, and the other blogger. It helps to know that. Here I was thinking everyone else was getting orders right and left! I have given up trying to figure out what people are thinking! LOL I don't even know what I am thinking half the time. Just going to keep plugging away.

No Debbie You can't tell how many hits you get. I just thought that if someone was looking for something in a certain area of the country they would look on that areas business directory so I added to as many as I could. I also added to webring, another freebie you might want to look at.

Lynda: Do you have any way to tract if hits are coming off of the business directories? It would be interesting to know. I've never heard of the directories so I'm anxious to give it a try.
Joann: I average one order per 200 hits. another blogger told me she got one order per 350 hits. who knows what people are thinking.

JoAnne you can get help with this stuff by looking up Google analitics. Also google search engine visability and see what you can find. I also googled free business directories and added my site to those. Hope this helps.

Debbie thanks I will try some of those. I am getting hits to my website, but not tons at its highest I had between 500 and 600. I sold one pattern for those hits. That is a low percentage to say the least. I had to design my own website due to the cost thing, so I know the website could be better, my older brother is working on a new one for me, he is a professor with a university in Texas and what he does is teach computer stuff including web design. We shall see what happens there. Oh well enough whining! I will follow your directions and see what I come up with, "Thanks" again for our help.

WARNING; LONG POST HERE!!! Oaky, lets try this. Below is the html off my website. All the words I listed here are possible search words or word combo's that I though I would use if I googled something. If you open almost any website, click on "VIEW" go down to SOURCE and see what the source window opens. If you have a newer computer like mine, right click on the webpage, click on "view source" and you can see various websites' meta tags. Now the other key is to make sure these words are also on your website somewhere. I copy and pasted them to a "white background area" and changed my font color to 'white' so no one can see them but they are a part of my web page. Plus, someone told me that the more hits you have you move up higher on the google page. So go to your website often. You can install a web hit counter to help keep track. Also add a closing (salutation) to all your emails with all your info. ei:
Thank you,
Jane Doe,
company name,
web address, .
Everyone that reads your email will have an exposure to your website address. Your friendS read it, they forward it and then those friends forward it...it goes on and on. I'M NOT SURE I SAID ALL THIS THE RIGHT WAY SO LET ME KNOW IF I CAN ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS.

Lynda and JoAnne, Have you heard about meta-tag? I don't know why they're called that but they are the words that search engines look for when someone googles "key words". Maybe try to google meta tags and see what you get. I'll find out more too. I know my count of web hits went way up when I got meta tags added. They are in the HTML area of heading/header. I'm babbling so let me take some time to get my thoughts in order and I'll report back.

This groupie is here, just super busy making jelly, using the time stirring to think. I have been having a difficult time lately with this design business thing. Patterns are not selling on line so I have been thinking I should give up. Then this morning some things happened that make me think no I am not giving up, so now I am trying to get the jelly done so I can hit the design wall!!!!!!!!!!!
