Double Wedding Ring Challenge

I seem to know lots of quilters that would like to make a double wedding ring quilt, but just never seem to get around to it... maybe because of the curved piecing or because of feeling unsure about color choices or they want to make it scrappy and don't have enough scraps (yea, like that would ever happen.... ). Anyway, I propose a challenge! Let's make double wedding ring quilts. I know it would be motivating to me to have others working on the same project to encourage, give information, help with color choices, and share progress. Now is the time to create that double wedding ring masterpiece that you've been putting off. Think about those young people you know that will one day be getting married and would love to have a double wedding ring quilt as a wedding gift. The fabrics in the sample above are from the Mama's Cottons collection.

Good job, Pam!  It's lovely.

This "corner" is all the quilting  I have left to do on my DWR. After nearly 25 years (bought the fabric in Sept 1989) I think I'm going to finally get it finished.

Myrna, I haven't tackled that one, but I'll look forward to seeing pictures of yours!

Hello ladies.  I have just recently started "Wedding Stars", a Judy Neimeyar paper pieced pattern.  Have any of you done this one?  It is very similar to a DWR which I have always wanted to do.  I am using batiks to do this one.

Beautiful finish Amy, the happy couple will be thrilled!!  I love the neutral pallette you used and the gorgeous quilting in the centers.  You also win the award for being one of the rare quilters that actually gets their DWR finished before the wedding!  I have the RTB book and templates but went with Shar's traditional templates when I started mine.  Hope to still try using them though.

I think I'd like the quilt as you go method.  I've been pretty burned out since I handquilted mine.  And handquilted or not, a DWR is an heirloom no matter how it is done.

Thanks PQ.  Yes it was Rings that Bind method.  It has its + and -.  I didn't hand quilt it because of time, but I do wish to hand quilt another project of mine.   Thank you for your encouragement!

Congrats, Amy!  You did it!  And it turned out beautifully.  Was this the "Rings That Bind" method?  They will love it!

Fini!  It is finished.  The end.  The wedding is in a few days.

I wish that was the case but the company was really nice and I had them here within two days of ordering.
