Double Wedding Ring Challenge

I seem to know lots of quilters that would like to make a double wedding ring quilt, but just never seem to get around to it... maybe because of the curved piecing or because of feeling unsure about color choices or they want to make it scrappy and don't have enough scraps (yea, like that would ever happen.... ). Anyway, I propose a challenge! Let's make double wedding ring quilts. I know it would be motivating to me to have others working on the same project to encourage, give information, help with color choices, and share progress. Now is the time to create that double wedding ring masterpiece that you've been putting off. Think about those young people you know that will one day be getting married and would love to have a double wedding ring quilt as a wedding gift. The fabrics in the sample above are from the Mama's Cottons collection.

Amy - you won't regret the wool batt, that's for sure.  It is a dream to hand quilt through.

Glory - fun times!

I have just finished cutting the pieces.  Can't wait to get started.

Just purchased tools and fabric to begin a DWR for my daughter who will be married next May.  So psyched!!  I will be using Cheryl Phillips pattern Rings that Bind.  Handquilting - using quiltlady's thimble and hoop... and wool batting as suggested by my friend PrairieQuilter.  :)  Can't wait to get started!  I will share progress...

This morning, I saw on youtube a video from Heirloom Creations called Quick Curve Ruler - Cutting, Sewing & Squaring Up Blocks...  I thought it was very helpful and interesting... another take on the DWR that has a slightly modern and simpler twist.  So check it out if this strikes your fancy!  Have a great week.

Beautiful work and a wonderful finish!  Your daughter and her husband will treasure it I'm sure.  I hope you put a special label on it so when it's passed down (and it will be!) the legacy of your work will always be honored.

Good job.  I still cannot imagine hand quilting; especially something so big!  You daughter is very lucky.  She and her husband get to sleep under your masterpiece.

Way to go, Prairie Quilter.  Aren't you glad you finished?  It's just beautiful.

PQ! I'm so proud of you, its almost as if you gave birth again isn't it. You used the same template as I did in mine!
