I am a long time member of "Quilting With Us" (QWU). I used to give virtual workshops here. Like many others, I have ventured out as QWU became more quiet.

We are getting the warning that QWU is at risk of being disabled. I fear this is a sign that QWU will one day be no more.

It has become like family here and the thought of losing the friendships we have developed has giving me a sad heart. Like many dark clouds, there is a silver lining. When I ventured out, I created a quilters social network, much like QWU. I never mentioned it, for it was a conflict of interest. However, in this dark hour, it is time to let others know there is an alternative. It does not have to end here.

I would be honored for QWU members to join "Pattern Pastiche". If needed, we are more than happy to create a group for your new home.

Lea, do you want to try a scrap swap? How did the garage sale go? Did you sell your cute boxer shorts?

I just joined Fabric Swaps and I would be interested in a scrap swap.

Lea - love the boxer shorts! I think kids will love them.

Fat quarter swap might be the easiest. Or maybe a scrap swap.

What kind of swap would everyone be interested  if I try to start..

Brought home from thrift shop the ugliest fabric thinking it was cotton for quilting when upon closer look, shower curtain type fabric, after some thought what to make, went back for a shorts pattern to make these boxer shorts. Got addicting 12 pairs later, decided put for sale in my upcoming garage sale. Hope to win back price of fabric.

I think Lisa was running it? There hasn't been any activity since last fall. I have lots of fabric too, Diana. Welcome to the group.

Lea - It depends of what kind of swap is being done. If just swapping fabrics, the ones I've been in have a lead person. That person collects from everyone in the swap and then distributes it to participants. Some swaps you get just one participant to swap with. It just depends what kind of swap and the rules the leader decides on. If the swap involves cutting pieces or making blocks, then there is given a time frame to get your contribution turned in.

I don't think the person who was running is running it anymore i am not sure

How does the swap work?

Hello - I just joined Fabric Swaps and am looking forward  a swap or two.  I live in Northern California and love fabric and have lots of it.  From what I am reading some members are looking forward to another swap.
