Thanks for the nomination, Barbara (yeah!)  BUT. . . I do have a suggestion.  I looked among CT's free patterns (go to CT's site; I don't know how to do the "link" bit.) and almost at the very bottom as you scroll down all the "free patterns" there was this charming fishbowl.  It is pattern #991338, and entitled Fan Tailed Goldfish Quilt.  If you leave off that questionable border, it will finished at 12" square, just the right size for that free-standing wire hanger CT carries.  Glass goldfish bowls do not have to hold fish, you know.  Search your novelty fabrics stash for things like frogs, butterflies or buttons!  It is an easy pattern to make with flip-corners.  You will need three fabrics: the bowl, the background, and the lip of the bowl.  You will also need a fabric for binding, but I'm going to bind it in black because I used the dramatic oriental fabrics.  Fabric choice is everything here; think out of the box . .er. . bowl!

Ok - mission accomplished. I have the snow globe pieced.

If you're doing a snow globe, the long edges are the top and bottom in the pattern. I had to readjust the measurements because I goofed with the position of the snowman.

I like this one a lot and I need new shopping bags too. Plastic shopping bags are now charged for here in Canberra - no longer free. The only ones free are the thin barrier bags.
