Mari, Will Connecting Threads have a booth at International Quilt Festival Houston in October?
Katherine,
If all of you are like me, you are working on more than one thing at a time!
I am working on a paper pieced miniature quilt. It has 52 - 2 inch blocks with 10 pieces to each block. When I am finished and put on the borders and binding, I will have a 12' X 12' finished quilt. I am also working on a One Block Wonder quilt. They are called Kaleidoscope quilts. I have completed my kaleidoscope hexagons and will begin working on the tumbling blocks that are added to them. It is very interesting! I am also working on Secret Sister Blocks, 1 per month, a Round Robin for Round Robin's Nest, 25 Christmas Blocks for a Bee exchange, 45 signature blocks for a guild retreat in August and 2 seperate Blocks of the month. I'm tired, just writing it all down! Carol

Good Morning - I just joined this group. It sounds like it will be fun. Now I just need to get started.

Carol,
I always wondered what would happen if you took the lid off the pressure cooker before releasing the steam. I bet she was a strong girl, those lids were hard to get off, and I bet it was really hard with all that pressure. I bet the potato soup all over the place was ugly.
We sure haven't been talking about our projects much lately, have we Katherine? We should be getting around to them soon, as soon as we get back from the 70's.
Happy quilting!

I was looking to join your group to get see some ideas for gifts and I just finished reading the last 6 or 7 pages of posts thinking it would be mostly project hints and ideas and to my delight the stories took me back to my own childhood. The styles of the 60's and 70's were like no other for sure. Especially the Neru shirts. Thanks for the memories and the smiles this morning.

You all made me remember some great old memories. I remember one day in Home Ec. we were fixing potaot soup in pressure cookers. One girl tried to take the lid off before releasing the pressure and POW. She was not hurt, but we were cleaning up potato soup for several days! Carol

Oh, yeah, Jackie, and the zipper was huge and meant to show. With a huge pull, probably a circle. You were a groovy chick.
One ringey dingey, two ringey dingey....
Happy quilting!

Sharyn, you beat me to the punch with the Laugh-In comment...and Linda I was going to remind you to use GROOVY, but you got in there before me on that one, too. Wasn't Laugh-In great? Loved Arte Johnson as the dirty old man and Ruth Buzzi as the old lady. Plenty of bright colors and FLOWER POWER!! My dress was bright blue with multi-colored flowers. The full length zipper was in the front and went to the top of the collar that could either lay flat if unzipped a couple of inches or be a wide stand-up collar if zipped up all the way. It was my favorite!!

Darlene,
I think you are fibbin to me again! If I remember the 70's, you must too. I have to get started on that quilt, I keep thinking about it, it must be calling to me from it's bin.
Sharyn,
Yes, Mendels was great. I spent so much that they gave me two free bags. I have only been there once, but maybe work will send me back this fall. Oh shame on me, wanting to go to a work conference for the quilt shops near the convention center! It was the only shop we made it to, and I saw there were several shops around the convention center. Lots of opportunities to sneak away!
Mari,
I sure do remember those dresses with the naru collar. And no sleeves, cut way up to the collar. I think you were very stylish! My Mom didn't have a stylish bone in her body. I longed to have pretty cool fashion clothes. But, no, I got Myra's hand-me-downs. YUK. I wished to be bigger than her so I wouldn't have to wear her old stuff. Guess what? I got fifty pounds on her. No more hand-me-downs! LOL. Laugh-In, I remember that. Sock it to me.
When my Mom died, my skinny sister and I took her fabric, and a few of her clothes, and one day I cut all of it into five inch squares. That was about the time skinny Myra and I started quilting. Somehow, cutting all that into squares and making lap quilts for everyone was great therapy.
Well, I am off to pull out my far-out fabrics and see what they want to be made into. Groovy.
Happy quilting!

You're still beautiful - even if you are a little nuts.
