Oh, and Gayle,
Instigator? ME? You must be seriously confused. I am totally innocent. Just ask my family, no that won't work, just ask people at work, no that's no good either, oh, I don't think I have anyone that will vouch for my innocence! Yeah, it's better to laugh than to cry, and this is the fun stuff. So just have fun. Girls just wanna have fuuuunnn....
Happy quilting!

Diane,
I think it is very cool that Karen at least tried to get your book in the order. I bet she succeeded. She is very cool, huh?
Mary,
I guess I didn't have enough fingers. That IS sixteen, isn’t it? Don't tell anyone, but I troubleshoot accounting problems AND figure out how to fix them for a living. Oh we are in trouble now. I started sewing when I was about five, sitting on the porch with my friend Lolly, making Barbie clothes. It went from there to clothes. About ten years ago, for some reason, my DS and I both decided to start quilting. It happened about the time our Mom passed away. Mom never quilted, she sewed clothes. We have mostly learned from books and 'learning opportunities', you know, when you mess up really bad. I did have home ec in 8th grade, but it was horrible. I had to make a shift, and it was so ugly. Ugly fabric, I forgot the side darts, had to rip out the seams, then refused to wear the thing. I didn't learn anything from that class.
Diane,
You have quite the list! I bet you should start in January for the next year. I did that once or twice, it was nice to do things throughout the year. I probably had things at the last minute that I had forgotten, madly working to finish them.
Our 4th was fun, but did get interrupted by a huge rainstorm. There is something every year. One year we had no power for about two days, the 4th being right in the middle of it. We did get the fireworks show going, but everyone was wet because it was drizzling. The good thing is it is much cooler today, only about 80 right now. Very nice. I am sure it will heat up again in a day or two.
I still have to order books or something for this group. I better get busy.
Happy quilting!

OK, OK! Even I ordered the book and another one to boot! They were not as expensive as I thought they would be. Thanks for the advice! Carol

Francine - quilting friends love to get 'quilty'gifts. but if you are like me we always think our efforts never measure up to their work. I have to get over that 'hangup' LOL

Hi Mary - yup - count me in ........ oh well ..... please no comments - I have been reading your girls for a while - but just ordered my books last week - won't be able to start right away - all that because of what they call work.... - and kids spending faster that we can earn it.... - ( both away in school) but I will catch up - only problem- family might not be big enough for all the gift.... - I will find someone... got friends ( but most of them quilts....) not to worry

Good for you Cindy! I think all of these projects are going to be terrific to do. My family will drop dead if I am not sewing on Christmas Eve! I have so many teachers to sew for that this is going to save me a ton of money. I have 3 for each of my sons and then I like to make something for all of the kids in Jordan's class and that is 8. Then I have family. Wow I'm tired just looking at my list!

Mari: You were lucky. I got named after a martyr, so I'm Mary Agnes. (Bet you know the Immaculate Conception had nothing to do with sex or the absence thereof.)

Linda: Count again. I had 16 years of the nuns before Yeshiva!!!

Oddly, one thing I didn't learn from the nuns was to use a needle and thread. Senior year I signed up for home economics and when i got my final schedule home ec was changed to calculus. I taught myself to stitch; I remember absolutely no calculus.

How'd everyone else learn?
