The beach bags just have heavy fusible fleece in both the bag and the lining so they are pretty stiff. A plastic liner or at least a plastic compartment would be good -- have to remember that next time.

Mari: No pressure or anything, but...I got an email this morning from a crochet site and guess what it included. That's right--Christmas patterns.

Carol: Great bags. Lucky little girls.

Carol, is there a stiffener in the bag? Like Timtex or a plastic liner?

The pattern has a small flat pocket with two sections. If I make these again - especially for an adult - I think I would improvise and make more pockets (maybe using one of my purse patterns for an example) and make pockets for sunglasses, sunscreen, paperback book, etc. These kids are little so I'm sure they will stuff them with sand toys and towels, maybe a change of clothes....and probably seashells. I like the drawstring too. I found those little plastic closure that you have to squeeze to open the drawstring so the kids don't lose their treasures.

Oh Carol, love the bags! I really like the drawstring feature. Never seen that before, cute!

very nice bags Carol - sure they will love them - is there some sort of pockets inside.... - very good idea -

I know what you mean. I usually stock up then, too. I'll have to look next time they have the sale. Kit

It's a McCalls sewing pattern #5866. I improvised with the flower to make it a littler "girlier" than the pinwheel. Bought several tote patterns last time Joanne's had a sale. Can't beat the price $1.99 when they are on sale - sometimes even $.99!

Really cute beach bags, Carol. Where did you get the pattern? Kit
