Wow, I just joined this group and am already behind on the messages. What wonderful stories. I remember my Mother pulling chicken off the ceiling after our pressure cooker exploded. I have one now, but am afraid to use it.

MARI If any of the staff comes down for Festival, Have them send me an e-mail. I work Festival each year and am there almost every day from Market to Festival End. My e-mail is: aquiltersdream@hughes.net
Hope to meet some of you there! Carol

Linda ~ I think we were pretty stylish in the 70s. Not so much now. That is so cool what you did with your Mom's clothes too. How dear of you to do that for your family!

Jackie ~ I LOVED Ruth Buzzi. I had her "sounds" down to a fine science. She was so fun to watch and Arte Johnson as the "dirty ol' man" was a riot. Oh, I remember those zippers now. I forgot about that. It was at that time that the invisible zippers came out and I used them a lot.

Welcome Katherine!
I'm glad you are joining us. Yep, I think most are waiting for their books to arrive to get started on their projects. A few are posted now above though and the two discussions will help in giving you some direction as to how this Quilt Along works! I'm so glad you joined us!

Carol ~ I remember my Mom ALWAYS waring me about pressure cookers. She was so scared of them that she wouldn't have one in her possession! I can imagine how awful the mess was from that potato soup! Good grief. If it took days to clean it up by the last day it must have been like dried glue!

Good Morning QuiltMom! So glad you are joining us! Take a look at the two discussions above for helpful hints and direction. I'm so happy you joined us! I bet you have some wonderful memories too to share.

Carol ~ CT usually doesn't participate in IQF as a vendor. We have people who attend from time to time but not sponsor a booth. Wow, you are a busy girl! Phew! You wear me out reading the list!

Katherine ~ I wish we had more pics to show for you! I might have to sit at the sewing machine this weekend so i can post something! Its so invigorating to see finished projects from everyone!

Mari, Will Connecting Threads have a booth at International Quilt Festival Houston in October?
If all of you are like me, you are working on more than one thing at a time!
I am working on a paper pieced miniature quilt. It has 52 - 2 inch blocks with 10 pieces to each block. When I am finished and put on the borders and binding, I will have a 12' X 12' finished quilt. I am also working on a One Block Wonder quilt. They are called Kaleidoscope quilts. I have completed my kaleidoscope hexagons and will begin working on the tumbling blocks that are added to them. It is very interesting! I am also working on Secret Sister Blocks, 1 per month, a Round Robin for Round Robin's Nest, 25 Christmas Blocks for a Bee exchange, 45 signature blocks for a guild retreat in August and 2 seperate Blocks of the month. I'm tired, just writing it all down! Carol

Good Morning - I just joined this group. It sounds like it will be fun. Now I just need to get started.

I always wondered what would happen if you took the lid off the pressure cooker before releasing the steam. I bet she was a strong girl, those lids were hard to get off, and I bet it was really hard with all that pressure. I bet the potato soup all over the place was ugly.
We sure haven't been talking about our projects much lately, have we Katherine? We should be getting around to them soon, as soon as we get back from the 70's.
Happy quilting!
