Froggie: Maybe ranchmom will let you move into the hen house if you get fired. Irish soda bread is sort of a giant raisin scone but not so dry. Traditionally it's made with tiny dried currants or caraway seed but I like raisins. It's got the consistency of bread and can be a little on the sweet side. It's made with buttermilk and the leavining is, you guessed it, baking soda, not yeast. It's extraordinarily easy to make but don't tell anyone because then folks will stop going into raptures when they taste mine. It tastes particularly wonderful with a nice dose of sweet (I hate salted) butter.

Well, Howdy, Ally! Glad to have you here. Your quilts are GORGEOUS! We have lots of fun here, and make a project or two along the way.
MaryAgnes, What is Irish soda bread? I don't think I have ever had it, but if yours is fabulous, I can't wait to try it.
RanchMom, Thanks for the explanation of hen bacon. I don't know how they make it so long, either. I have never seen a long skinny hen. But I am excited to eat hen bacon with that Irish soda bread!
I have never owned a Brother sewing machine. But I love my Baby Locks. There are so many brands out there, it's crazy looking for a new machine, especially when you don't know what brand you want. Then there are the features and prices once you decide on a brand.
I better get to work, or they might fire me and I will have to knock on Mari's door to see if she can get me a gig at CT.
Happy quilting!

Ally, Yes Mari's purse was from the book Pretty Little Presents. We'll try to do better at mentioning which book a project is from when we post it in the discussion forum but you can also look at the list by month that is above to see who is making a project and which book it is from. Hope that helps!

Mari - was your purse from the pretty little present book? I thought it would make a nice evening bag. I'm looking forward to getting my order, just ordered last night and my last order to Canada took about 2 weeks so it will be a while till I get up and going. Sounds like fun and one can get our Christmas list checked off early. Isn't that great!!!LOL.

Hi Ally! Welcome! Of course you can join us! We're all looking forward to seeing what you make too! This last weekend I made a silk purse, which everyone has been teasing me about, and I also made a very cute 16" x 20" little quilt. In one day I got it pieced and quilted. Love those little ones. It could even be used as a place mat at Ranchmom's smashing bacon, egg, soda bread and sow's ear meal!!! Perhaps I'll post a pic of it later. It was so much fun to finally make something for myself that I started another one tonight!!! I have the first one hanging in the house and it looks like it needs a companion.

Froggie you can come to the hen party, I think anyone who wants to come can it will be a good place for us to show off our silk purses. I sew like you do ripit ripit yeah I know that stitch quite well.

MaryAgnes Irish soda bread sound wonderful along with the bacon, eggs and Froggie's ham sammies.

Oh Froggie, hen bacon is like turkey bacon better for you, but I'm not quite sure how they make it, how do they get it so long a flat, my hens are not that shape.

Froggie: 40 years ago I collected frogs, hundreds of them, none alive. I had ceramic frogs and paper frogs and plastic frogs and frog pens and frog magnets and frog dishes and, well, you get the idea. They still show up on occasion, like the frog planter I got last Christmas from my niece. Wish I still had them; I'd send them your way.

Ranchmom: we could have Irish soda bread. I make fabulous Irish soda bread.
