Diane that was a good story about your DH and Baby T.. I laughed at that but I thought when Froggie had tears running down her leg was better. I have laughed that hard before.
Sheila I hope you have a great time at your retreat in Amish country. I have never been to a retreat either and sure would love to go to Amish country also.
Mary Alice maybe you and I could have a retreat ourselves.
Comment by Mary Alice Espinoza 4 hours ago Diane, absolutely not! A sale doesn't come often, and he can golf any day. Speaking of sales, I spent a nice afternoon with mom and my aunt shopping for fabrics at Joann's and Hobby Lobby. My aunt wanted me to teach her to make pillow cases with the french seam. So I just got back and her two sets of pillow cases are completed. Now to get busy on mine--I found the M&M fabric, so I couldn't resist, and it was 30% off too, so that was even more irresistible.
Yes I have 8 pecan trees. I'll invite you all over on pecan picking week---that's the worst week of all--crawling around on her hands and knees picking them up. 8 trees can produce up to 400+ lbs of pecans. We sell some and and shell the rest for our use in baking. Just pack them in the freezer and they are good for years to come. Fresh pecans make the BEST home made pecan pies and pecan sandies.
Oh my, just took a peak at all the new kits and fabrics! To die for! Need to start making my wish list, but not sure these will last long.
Comment by Diane Gunter/Canada 6 hours ago Froggie I LOVE YOU! "tears running down your leg"
Tell me ladies. Is it wrong to pray for rain so your husband can't go golfing but you can go to a sale at a quilt store when all the fabric is 50% off one day only? Please say NO!!!! And I pray that my husband never sees this!
Diane, sometimes I laugh so hard, tears run down my legs! Hehee. That is hilarious! I can see it.
I don't think I would have slept much either, Mari! You can sleep at work when the retreat is over, right?
You have 8 pecan trees, Mary Alice? You have been holding out on us! I will be right over.
Oh good, Anne, I am glad you are relaxed now.
DGS1 and I swam for a while this afternoon, it was very nice. THen, I made shake n bake chicken, and potatoes, onions, mushrooms, green beans wrapped in foil, with some olive oil and salt and pepper sprinkled on top. Yum, it was good. And easy. It all went in the oven. It's almost too hot to use the oven. I could put it on the grill, but the chicken would change to BBQ, yum. Parts of my new laptop started coming today. Software and an external drive. I am excited for the rest of it to come!

Comment by Kathy Biggs/MO 7 hours ago Good afternoon all. I played hokey from Gifty today to take a crocheted rug class. Lots of fun! Just what I need...another project to add to my list. lol Here is a pic of what we did in class:

Mary Alice, the quilt and throw pillows you posted yesterday are great! Sorry I am so far behind in commenting. I'm backing up here to add a comment on you bag project. I'm not familiar with that bag pattern, so just throwing an idea out here for the handles not knowing if it would work for what you are doing or not. I like to use 1" wide elastic in my bag handles. It makes a great stabilizer, easy to sew through, and helps prevent the handles from stretching out when the bag is loaded down. Just an idea. :-)
Cindy, you sure rocked the trivet! Way to go! I'm sure by now you have a dozen or more made. :-)
Sandy, great job on the torso sculpture! It looks a lot bigger than 8" in the photo.
Froggie, you bag is great. I knew you would just love (NOT) my idea of hand quilting. LOL
Diane, I can just picture you DH crawling around on the floor. LOL Thanks for the laugh of the day. And I'm not sure a marathon sewer is an adequate description of all you can get accomplished in a day! Maybe superwoman marathon sewer would be better. :-)
Sheila, you know we want retreat pics. And can't wait to see what Mari did on her's. :-)
Comment by Anne 9 hours ago Oh my..it is pouring rain out here.started out so beautiful. Went to the store.. picked up a couple of things.. came home sat down to make out checks for bills..2 hours later..here I am..and to tired to even sew.. But, I want to tell all of you.. your works are great. I've enjoyed sitting here reading you. Thanks..now that made me relax. Love ya all. Anne

This is the link to the info about how to get it. It was on a hexagon quilt made with only straight stitching and she gave several methods so you don't have to go out and buy the Accuquilt.
Comment by Barbara S/IL 12 hours ago Oooh, pecans, Yum!
Comment by Mary Alice Espinoza 16 hours ago How exciting all your retreats sound! Wish I could go to one, but I'm too afraid to leave mom alone for too long. She's healthy, but at 79, she's beginning to forget things, and I'm the one who cooks for us and takes care of things.
I made the quilt and the pillows using the Creative Grids multipurpose rulers--2 peaks in a triangle, and Hex and More. The pillows are from a pattern called Candy Dish by Little Jaybird Quilts. Every month I go to a local quilt shop that is featuring these rulers as a "Ruling your Ruler" class. We have several more items to make out these two rulers. Next project is a lap quilt called Flower Power from the book Three Patterns by Pam and Nicky Lintott. I hope to have all my fabric cut out before class, so when I go spend my day at the shop, I can spend most of it sewing.
Sandy, great sculpture! I'm luck if I can make an ash tray, but since no one in my family smokes, what's the point?
May spend the day making my sack of red chili today to put in my newly cleaned out freezer. Here in NM we say we keep a separate freezer for our chili. In my case, red and green chili dominate what's in that freezer. Along with pecans from our 8 pecan trees.
Later you all!
