I have to admit that I loved the Walmart pick it up experience!  I don't think I've ever made it out of the grocery store that fast! LOL.  I got everything, but had one substitution.  I had ordered the International Foods White Chocolate Mocha Creamer cause that's my favorite.  They switched it for Chocolate caramel--not sure about that, but it is what it is.

It was really cold outside (in the 30s).  I had to put the heater in the truck!  Made it back in time before we were hit with more snow.  I can't believe I saw snow falling twice in one day.   I know it's supposed to get windy this afternoon thru night, and it's going to be really cold tomorrow.

I will send my quilt out to a long armer, just need to decide whom I'll send it to eventually.  I actually thought of going through their 1 day class to learn to use their long arm, and schedule myself in to get it done all by myself.  But mom would have to be there all day with me.  I've actually thought about sending it to MSQC or Sparrow Quilt Company.  They state they'll have it back within 4 weeks.  That really would be nice!  I'm just afraid to lose it in the mail.

Barbara, love the 2 Timer layout!  That will look beautiful!  So colorful!

I think these classes have snapped my mojo. I want to sew, but not what I need to get done for class.  Oh well, we'll see what I do. It needs to get done cause I paid for the classes.  But I think this is the last year for more than 1 class. I'll do the $7.50 BOM if they offer it next year, but that may be it.  Just feel like I need to spend more time at home to make things easier on mom and myself as well.

I actually didn't go out to grab a meal after getting groceries, as I recalled I'd made some potato burritos and also had some beef stew.  Figured those were healthier.  We had the burritos for a late lunch and we'll have the beef stew for dinner (need something warm!).

I hear those storms heading east are bad, so you all stay home and safe.  Praying the power stays on for all of you!

Froggie the Ninja Foodie is a pressure cooker and an Air Fryer all in one.  That's the reason I got a whole chicken.  I want to see if it cooks it well in the pressure cooker and browns it up nicely in the Air Fryer after.  I'm actually wondering if I'd rather put it in the oven instead as it's supposed to be really cold tomorrow.  The oven on would keep it warm inside the house.

I just can't believe how cold it is today.  And some of the trees had already started getting buds and leaves.

Froggie, Happy Anniversary!  Hope you have a wonderful day and some good KFC!

Hi back Marilyn, you are so sweet, I am so grateful for all of you ,and to be part of this group.

Just got home from pre-op PCP visit, then had to go to dentist for him to sign off that I didn't have any dental  infections with such a major surgery they are extra careful, and of course he found I need a crown, that will be Thursday. What next?

Comment by Carol Ann Hinton 32 minutes ago

Hi to you too, Marilyn!  We actually have a little sun today, so I dashed out to do a little front yard pruning, but now my back is reminding me that I didn't consult it before I did so!

I, too, have decided that cooking big, regular meals is not very much fun   in my old age!  DH grumbled the other day that I had been cooking lighter suppers these days.  He did admit later that it was probably better for us not to eat a large meal before going to bed anyway.

Oh sure, Barbara, you have a personality disorder!  You're probably just smart and quick-witted (at least I find you so), and they don't get your sense of humor!

PG&E (electric company) called last night to tell us that the electricity was finally on at the Mountain House.  Problem is that there is so much snow (and a little more on the way) up there we cannot get into the house!  I sure hope we don't have any trees down!

Question:  Do any of you jump on a new project that you just bought, leaving others in your "to do group" sitting there?  I have this cute pumpkin and blackbird small wallhanging I'm just itching to open and cut out!  But it's not its turn!!

Hi Marilyn. Yes, it's getting cloudier here too. I filled the birdfeeders and tried to keep Sophie from seeing the possum on the deck.

I got 2Timer B put together. i actually set up my vintage Singer to sew it. That little green demon machine is HEAVY.Here's what I decided on for layout.

Just have to sandwich and quilt it.

I have so many leftovers even when cooking just for me. It's hard to make one person meals. I like the Schwan's meals. It's easy to pull something out of the freezer and defrost/cook it.

That's so wonderful that the work groups like each other that much. I guess when you are working together to keep people safe, you bond closer. I think I have a personality disorder as I don't bond with workers much.

Hi Everyone!  Our weather looks like it's taking a turn for the worse for tonight and tomorrow.  Supposed to arrive by about 9 this eve. Earlier today it was sunny and we had some melting, but the clouds have moved in now. My monthly Bingo group that would meet tomorrow  eve. has been cancelled already.  And since the "wintery mix" is supposed to start in the morning, I am thinking most of the gals will decide NOT to go to quilt.  None of us oldsters need to take chances on slippery roads and parking lots!

Froggie, I'm sending you and Mr. Bullfrog an early Happy Anniversary. I'll probably forget by the  end of the week. LOL!  It's great that you will have DD1 there to help you celebrate.  Hey, and I like those Garlic Knot quilt blocks too!  But I'd like to see the other blocks when you have them set off with solid blocks!

We will be going to our tax preparer in the next couple days. We don't expect to have to pay, but doubt that we will be getting much back either. That's okay!  Just to break even is okay with us.

Mary Alice, your 30's print quilt top is spectacular!  And huge!  Yes, I think you should send it out to be quilted!  That is too much to try to wrestle under a domestic sewing  machine!

Glad to hear that  both Chocolate and Helga survived their surgeries and are doing well.  Even if they can't TALK to us, we can pretty well read what they want to tell us!  My niece and hubby had to have their kitty put down a couple weeks ago. He was awfully sick. Vet did autopsy and believes that Squirt had cancers all thru him.  Poor guy!  He was about 10 yrs. old.  They are really missing him.

Mary Alice, don't feel bad about stopping for take out food after shopping.  There's been many a time when we have done our grocery shopping, come home and put it all away, and then decide to go out for a meal because I no longer was in the mood to cook.  I think it happens to all of us sometimes.  The older I get, the more it happens. Ha,ha! And, like you, I really like to cook.  It just gets to be a chore sometimes.

And I was just scolding my friend earlier this afternoon that she needs to fix more substantial meals for herself!  She lives alone and eats too little sometimes. Cereal for supper!  That only satisfies me if I am sick. Guess that's why I am the size I am!

Well, rambled too much.  Hi to Kathleen and Mom, to Rita, Thel and the herd, Carol and Carol Ann, Kim, Barbara and the rest.  Stay safe and warm these next few days!

Is everyone hiding from the storms? I got a text that DC is about to get slammed with snow or something. I get these texts from the radio station DSIL works at, WTOP.

The Navy was like that too, Mary Alice. We were always doing things with Navy friends. Especially since we were so far from home. And if single guys were alone at Christmas or other holidays, they would come to our house or someone else's. I really hate buying all that food and then having to figure out dinner, too! I'm done with food by that time. I have started buying sammiches at the deli for lunch. I think they are popular with guys at the base for a quick lunch. That's too bad Mom is getting weaker. You will just have to order online, and use the Walmart grocery pick up. What's a Ninja Foodie? I thought it was like the meals you get in the mail then you cook them. Why can't I think of the name of one of those services? I have oldtimers, that's it.

I got some more garlic knots made. They are so easy. I need to figure out how many to make, so I don't go overboard.

Morning everyone!

I also love what a tight knit group of people police, firefighters and EMTs.  I know when my late brother was a state police officer, they all supported each other, were there for each other, and they did practically everything together. They ate out on their days off, celebrated holidays and birthdays together.  It's an awesome tight knit family. My other brother, Gabe, was head of city police in Gallup at one time, and now that he's here it seems everyone from his dept are retiring here in the area.  He states they meet up at the NMSU basketball games, and go to lunch or dinner out to catch up with each other.

I hope I like my produce too, Barbara!  Didn't order much, but will try it. If weather isn't bad, might even go grab a sandwich to go at Dion's. The thought of coming home to unpack and put away groceries, doesn't leave me much excitement to cook dinner.

I think I'll need to rely on this service as mom is hobbling and shuffling feet now.  But she's stubborn and won't use a cane or walker.  I told her I'd have her Dr prescribe a walker with wheels and a place to sit for a bit when she's tired.

It was hard to shop at Joann's yesterday as she wanted to hold onto my hand or arm for stability. Finally got her to push the cart for a while, but she got tired and sat down where the patterns were, so I did a quick check on everything and left ASAP.

Soup would have been a great add on! They had a loaded baked tater soup too.

My Ninja Foodi arrived yesterday!  So excited to try it out.  I even ordered a whole chicken to see how well it cooks it's and crisps it up.  Totally missed the Schwan's man yesterday, but we didn't need anything.  Tomorrow, I'll give the Foodi a whirl.  I'll cook up that whole chicken and crisp it up, then bake some taters (or sweet taters) in IP, along with steamed broccoli.

Good that she got shot down, Kim. But too bad that the meeting was so long and that attendance is down.

Oh well, fruit is good for you, Mary Alice. I like to have fruit with lunch. And just one thing is boring, like a half sammich. That's too bad, the rotary blades were locked up. You couldn't find the keeper of the keys? I think they are usually cheaper online anyway. Order from CT and get that thread, too. I just got me a set of the black and white, and a set of the beige. I had no grey/white/beige for piecing, so I thought about the CT thread, and it was on sale!

I love how firefighters and police support other state's and departments when there is a funeral, Kim. THat's a lot of people. Yep, it's tough seeing furr babies not feeling well. He can't tell me what's up, and I can't tell him that he will feel better in a day or so. Some consolation. He's a lot better today.

I'm going to tell Chocolate you called him a moosh. He will say, yes, I am. I crack  me up.

Everything in the state is closed today, from schools, beauty colleges, and meals on wheels, and churches. I would really like our early spring. Especially since today is sit and sew, and everyone decided to stay home. And tomorrow evening DD1 will be here. She's in Houston this week, gets finished tomorrow, and is coming here. She just accidentally will be here on our anniversary on Saturday! THat will be nice. We don't do anything except our KFC, but it's still nice to have her here. I guess I better get hopppin', I need a shower, and I have a small list again. Then I need to get to sit and sew in my own quilting room.

Good morning. Our temps are like yours today, Kim. It might be a 'wintery' mix overnight tonight.

I hope your grocery order is perfect, Mary Alice. When I preorder for pick up things are pretty good. I'd really rather pick my own veggies and fresh fruits but they do a fairly decent job. Yeah, add a cup of soup to your order. Of course, Mom might eat all of it and the half sandwich. Maybe you should order a portion for take out and eat it at home later?

Glad Chocolate is feeling better. What a moosh.

I like CT threads. I agree it seems a little thicker than aurifil 50 wt. but I like it for machine blanket stitch on applique especially.

Yes, I survived the tax appt. It did take me a while to figure out how to e-mail a file that I forgot to bring with me. I eventually got the right one transferred.

Good morning, the sun is shining and it's going to be a beautiful day. It's about 20 out now. Should be warming up to about freezing today. It's all good.

Today is a work day then I have a few errands to do in the afternoon. I was suppose to go to a fire police meeting tonight but it was moved to next week due to a funeral for a NYPD officer who was killed last week in the line of duty. All the viewings and funeral are being held in Hampton Bays. We are sending an ambulance both today and tomorrow during the services as they expect about 30 thousand to attend this week.

Maybe if Mom wants to "share" a sandwich when you go out, you could supplement that with a bowl of soup Mary Alice. Just saw on the Weather that what you are getting today, we are expecting on Wednesday. Starting as a bit of snow and once again going to rain.

Glad Chocolate is feeling better and getting back to being himself. It's hard to see our fur babies not feeling well.

Well, I better get moving and get something done today.

Have a great day...
