I was just wondering if any of you have done any twilling. The look is so classic and it doesn't really look too hard although I haven't tried it yet. I thought it might be a neat way to emblish…Continue

I am a long time member of "Quilting With Us" (QWU). I used to give virtual workshops here. Like many others, I have ventured out as QWU became more quiet.
We are getting the warning that QWU is at risk of being disabled. I fear this is a sign that QWU will one day be no more.
It has become like family here and the thought of losing the friendships we have developed has giving me a sad heart. Like many dark clouds, there is a silver lining. When I ventured out, I created a quilters social network, much like QWU. I never mentioned it, for it was a conflict of interest. However, in this dark hour, it is time to let others know there is an alternative. It does not have to end here.
I would be honored for QWU members to join "Pattern Pastiche". If needed, we are more than happy to create a group for your new home.

It's been very quiet around here. What's everyone working on? I finished taking apart the vintage child's redwork quilt and replaced the block with a hole with a newly embroidered piece. I was able to copy the original block to trace the pattern onto new fabric. It also has new borders, but I used the undamaged parts of the original to repair the hole in the back, make corner blocks and will have enough left for the binding. I'm hand quilting it right now.
My new block is the middle one on the bottom row. I thought the little girl looked very crabby, until I realized she is "Mary Mary Quite Contrary."
Thank you, both! It was fun to stitch.
Love the ship Amanda Best great job!
It disappeared! i will try again.
There we go! It was a fun one to make.
What a sweet little quilt, handstitcher! I am glad you rescued it and will be able to repair it, it deserves to be saved. I love the little embroideries.
I did finish the ship wall hanging. Here it is:
What a great save! Look forward to seeing your repairs.
Thought you might enjoy a vintage redwork quilt I bought last weekend. One block has a hole and there is a poorly repaired slash in the lower border, so it will need some restoration. But the price reflected the damage, so that was good. The bulk of the quilt is in excellent condition. I'll take out the damaged block and copy the pattern to replace it and I'll replace the border as well. I was fortunate to find a green solid to match. I also want to take out the ties and hand quilt it.
Here's a photo of the hole and the cut in the border:
Amanda, did you finish your galleon ship? I'd love to see a photo!
