Thought that we might have a place to share idea's, websites and ask each other questions without monopolizing the main group.
I think I will keep websites in this space to make it easy to find.

Oh I wish I could come and play too! But I might be a little busy around then- you never know. Take lots and lots of pics for me!
LURKING ALERT!! (Remember I warned you that I might be lurking on this discussion even though I am not an official LAer!)
So...did someone say "Play Date"??!!! ;^) Without sounding presumptious...I would enjoy joining you gals on your January play date! I think I could watch and learn alongside some of you seasoned LAers. I know I definitely would enjoy the fellowship! :)
No problem Marcia....you were going to get an official envite.
Talked with Nancy today.....she is getting ready to go on vacation and will just be getting back around MLK holiday. Would anyone mind if we do the longarm playdate on Presidents day? That way Nancy would be able to attend, and we can car pool.
Spending the afternoon ripping out! Haven't had to do that since the first quilt on this machine..... I don't know what is wrong with me today. The panto didn't line up right......ripit ripit.....the thread keeps breaking..... and the machine feels like it is dragging.
I'm going to finish ripping out the row, change the spool of thread out. And move the machine over the quilt top to see if I can figure out where the drag is coming from. Then I am probably going to quit for the day....DH says the machine is probably tired. This is quilt # 110 for the year and the 45th one since I got the new machine mid August.
Sometimes I wish that I could just have a glass of wine....then I remember that I don't drink because I don't like the taste of wine and liquor. Maybe I'll make myself a nice hot chocolate. LOL
I'm right there with you Deb. I've spent almost 10 hours with the quilt that is on the machine now and I'm not even close to 1/4 done. TEDIOUS ruler work and I'm not very good at it so there are more crooked lines than straight ones. I just came back to the house after deciding I'm taking the thing off the frame and ripping the whole thing out. It's going back on and I'm doing an all over on it, skip the fancy custom I was trying to do.
The 16th sounds ok at the moment. Where are we going to play? If we have room may I ask my friend Karen? You met her at your APQS class. She caught on way faster than me and is doing awesome stuff.
As far as I know the 16th works for me also. I'd love to have everyone here but I think it would mean more driving for everyone except me - lol I put all our locations on a map of IA and it looks like Marybeth is closest to center of us all. Though as long as the weather cooperates i don't mind driving wherever.
Good luck with he unsewing ladies. I hate doing that - so frustrating. I've learned that when sewing with a fleece backing, you get way more lint using cotton thread than poly. I was just using whatever I had that matched colors the best and finally realized why I had way more lint with some of them - only took me 5 quilts to figure it out!
As I sat unsewing last night, I have decided my stitches are too small. So my question for you is...
If you have a stitch regulator, how many stitches per inch do you prefer?
I usually have mine set at 10. If i'm doing pebbling or mini stippling or small feathers I set it at 12 - seem to get smoother curves with tinier stitches. I sure do hate ripping them out though.
Lynne somewhere on the APQS site I read a post that told a newbie that she should set her SR at 10. I had been running mine at 12 prior to that, so I bumped it down. My SR needs a little adjusting for my home current, but when set at 10 my machine does whine less.
I find that I actually move faster in non sr mode, but then I don't have those perfect stitches. But even at 10 it takes forever to rip them out. 10 min of quilting = 2 hours of ripping. LOL
Back to play date discussion. I should have looked at the calendar prior to suggesting a date.....that is quild night, plus I orginally picked it because I thought Nancy might have the day off and she doesn't. It appears to me that we could have 6 in attendance based on the day. Does anyone have room for all of us? There were 4 at my house and that was about the max in my room, but I think the more the merrier and I would love for everyone to be able to come. What do you think?
10 min quilting = 2 hours ripping, man, am I in trouble! With those calculations I'm looking at 840 hours at least on this sucker!!!
I don't really have much room for a playdate here. I haven't said anything to my friend about it so if there isn't enough room I won't.
i don't know if 6 people would fit in my room, not sure i have had that many, but if i move stuff a little bit and clean the floor :-) it might be worth a try. since i have never been to any of your rooms i don't know how big yours are. i am open to whatever the consensus is.
