Had such a wonderful day-brightening surprise today. Our daughter Jill, "family cookie artist" sent me these and they really warmed my heart. Love her so much!
DH turned on the A/C here by the weekend. He doesn't do well with heat. I am still sleeping under a blanket, with flannel pjs and socks!! It is nice not to have the high humidity in the house. I don't care to have it on a lot as I just get cold. However, I can put on a sweater if I need to. He can't take off many more clothes and still be decent!!
I saw a pattern on MSQC that I am trying out. It is called Diamond Terrace and looks complicated. It isn't at all. I will be using up some scraps for another dialysis quilt. Think I'll be making about 30 blocks for this one. I'll post a picture.
CT has some really cool batiks in their new catalog. I love the blues. I may have to get something. (Like I need more fabric!!)
Be safe and be strong.
Hubby gets upset if it's 80 in the house when he wants to go to bed..me,,, I'm up for sleeping I the basement!
Umm...furnace to ac in the same day might be me!
Said one field west
We ended up with just over 2" yesterday and it just rained again! I got everything done outside that I hoped to. Grumpy Gus came home at lunch and said one feels West of Roland is a goner. It's a wet SOB on a good day so it doesn't take much to drown it out.
I refuse to turn the a.c. On yet! We just turned the furnace off a week ago! My neighbors literally go from furnace one day to a.c. The next! Drives me crazy.
We've been ok with the rain, it has been skirting us so far so we have had less than an inch. None yet today but it is getting darker and darker with thunder rumbling. Grumpy Gus will probably be at my house if he can't get the sprayer moving by the end of the week.
I broke down and turned on the air at noon, it was just getting too muggy in the house. It will probably stay on until the furnace comes back on in the fall.
I pulled a table topper out of the bag to quilt and bind. The goal is to have the bag empty by January 1.
I think I am going to have to break down and go into Cedar Falls later this week. My computer is needing to be replaced. I have some bookwork that needs to be done and my software is no longer able to be run on this one. I also have a couple of returns to make. Still not comfortable going to do a lot of shopping, the computer place is a smaller place that is taking appointments and the other stops can be quick in and outs.
Well I think I had better go put some shoes on. A habit most around here got into 12 years ago. If there is a chance of a severe storm, make sure you have shoes on to head to shelter.
ok enough rain already!!!
We got 1 1/2" by the time I went to bed, starting about 5pm, and it's still raining off and on so I haven't check the gage yet this morning. Luckily I mowed yesterday afternoon.
I finished up my charm square top after lunch and decided I better mow before doing anything else, glad I did. The ground is soggy now! Lots of huge ponds out in the fields. Guess who's a grumpy gus now!
Shelby was texting that the tornado sirens were going off in Ankeny. They were already in the basement since the upstairs was muggy so naturally being a true midwestern they had to go out and look.
I'll put some sort of border on the charm square quilt then be ready to start something new..I have 2 quilts that need binding so maybe that will be todays project.
I saw a message regarding Blueprint. They said they are working on a way for everyone to keep their classes and will be sending out info in a week or two.
Im working on a BOM from Edyta Sitar - kind of. I have the pattern and instead of using her kit I’m using my own stash so am on block 5 while she’s still doing 2. I’m liking it so far.
