Don't you just love it when you find those brand new bargains at garage sales! Youngest's future wife is a serious garage sale shopper. She even paid her neighbor $100 for whatever was left over at their garage sale last year. They just dumped it all in garbage bags and put it in her SUV. The first thing she pulled out when she went thru the bags was a brand new Michael Kors purse with a $79 price tag still attached. Most of the stuff still had tags on it. Turns out the gal was recently divorced and had been maxing out the ex's credit cards for some time, she didn't care what she bought as long as he paid for it. E kept a lot, her sister kept a lot, she sold a bunch at Plato's closet and the rest at her own garage sale. She made almost $1000 plus what they kept.
A pineapple quilt looks like a lot of work to me!
I went to the orthopedic doctor this morning with my sore shoulder. It's been bothering me for a long time. He thinks there is probably a small rotator cuff tear. We will see if a cortisone shot helps, he thinks it probably will. If not, an MRI and possible surgery. Yuck.
I went to the quilt shop this afternoon and tweeked my 24 FQs for my mystery quilt again. It finally looks like they belong together with more variety in value and texture.
Lucky Carol! You definitely were in the right place at the right time! Hooray for your awesome garage sale find!
Darce- IMHO garage sales are a lot of work! For me it's just easier to donate the items to a good cause. Some people do well with garage sales, but little ol' Rowan does not draw too many people to any of the garage sales I've had! Speaking of that, I spent last week doing some downsizing and took a BUNCH of stuff to Iowa Falls Thrift Shop. It's run by several churches who split the income and then use the money to fund their mission projects.
I have been spending some time in Paradise and able to get several projects done. A neighbor lady asked my to help her with a 'Snow Bird' project. She needed ten quilt blocks sewn up- but didn't need it till she leaves for Florida next November. I decided to 'git r done' instead of my usual procrastination! Those blocks are completed and have been given to my surprised neighbor! I finished a challenge project that was due at last night's guild meeting. Got three FQs at a swap game held during our Christmas party. The challenge was to make a project using those three FQs The three FQs I got at the swap are NOT fabrics I would have selected- but I took the challenge on. I added additional FQs to make a good-sized couch throw. I also finished a quilt my great niece Emma had started during the time she had been staying with me. She now lives in Newton and with school & a job- she just wasn't finding the time to come back for a visit to finish her quilt. So I finished it as a surprise for her. It's a colorful & happy quilt in pinks & turquoises. Just the perk she needs in her life right now! Plan to hand deliver it- whenever it works in her schedule and mine! Last quilt project I worked on is another panel quilt. Similar to our "Panel Palooza" I had as a challenge to our IQ August retreat last year....this was the same challenge for another retreat I organize with eight friends. Well, this retreat is next week- so I finished up this panel quilt. It is a bear panel with Bear Paw blocks. I really like this panel quilt a lot! I will try to get photos taken of all three quilts and post them for you ladies to enjoy. (Need to get hubby to hold them up for me so I can snap a picture!)
I also need to take a picture of the light blue Singer machine in a cabinet that I bought several months ago at an auction for $5. I took it in for a maintenance check-up and it is running like a champ now! She's such a pretty machine that I've named her 'Sweet Baby Jane'! :)
Sandy- sounds like a wonderful trip you have coming up! Enjoy and stay safe! Can't wait to hear about your adventures!
Everyone have a TERRIFIC TUESDAY! :)
Deb I dont think I have ever done one either.
Deb....i haven't actually done a pineapple quilt but i bought the accuquilt die for it ....does that count? maybe i will make that at the retreat
continuing Prayers for all!
So how many of you have done pineapple quilts? I had Jacque order me a new gadget that makes it look easy. But the end results look rather modern. I am hoping to merge modern technique's with a more traditional look. Can you show me pictures of your quilts, btw this is going to be a scrap quilt. I need to see the color placements ect. (PS yes I have looked on pintrest...but I want to be able to ask questions also)
