What a wonderful mission you've found, Jan. You will never know how many lives you touch. God bless you.
Son Jim does eat well, is a hiker, jogger, bicycler; necessary he says because of a rather sedentary job as magazine editor. Don't know about the genetic part - my mom was a tiny person, but had lots of health issues. None of the rest of us really reflect the young, slim and trim physique. Many on my hubby's side died young so I'm thinking God's blessings and some good luck are involved too. He does have a great smile; he's another of my many blessings.
Yes, Carol, your son looks great. Genetics and a healthy lifestyle, no doubt. He has a great smile. Tell him he has a bunch of admirers on this blog!!!
Most of my donation quilts go to the Vera Lloyd House in Montecello, AR. The residents are wards of the state and range in age from 8 to 18. Some stay longer if they are in college and have no where else to go. The Presbyterian Church is a huge sponsor and we donate around 15 to 20 quilts each year. A few of the quilts go to the Children's Advocacy Group out of Little Rock. They use smaller quilts as comfort blankets for the kids. Often they are victims of abuse and need to feel something warm wrapped around them. I hate it that there is a need for either of these places. But, thank God there are those who are willing and able to run these places to provide a safe harbor for kiddos.
Tonight our Shepherd Group from church is having a "Game Night". I am providing one of two dessert items. There will be about 20 there, so should be fun. I made a raw apple cake. Tastes good, easy to make and transports well.
Have a good weekend everyone.
Lauren is a true artist, Diane. Watching her create a pattern for the harem pants, simply by measuring and cutting etc. was amazing.
Thanks for the hatless pic, Carol! Now, if that man could bottle his good genetics plus whatever lifestyle he holds dear, he would be a multi-multi-millionaire! He looks great for 46!
if any of you still have plans to go to the fair be sure to stop in the 4H building and see Lauren Hansen's projects. She received the outstanding needlework award for one of her dresses!
The concert last night was great, Kim and I went with Lauren's parents, Marcia and her friend Judy were there too. Karen Hansen is in Story today so I will explain the next retreat challenge to her over coffee
Another cool morning! Feels like fall
Yep, still has lotsa hair too! LOL
Holy Cow....he looks like he's in his thirties with that hat on but....is there any hair under there LOL!!
Wow, Carol, your son really does look quite young! He must get that from you!! And Abby is quite the young, talented lady!! My Riley, 15 and in 10th next week, is quite reserved in her dress and actions compared to so many in her class. It's nice to know that she still enjoys Disney movies and gets a little embarrassed if a couple kisses on TV!
I love all the color in your donation quilts, Jan! They will surely be loved and appreciated.
I don't think there is one perfect family without some sort of issue....but it's too bad that so many of those issues go unresolved before it is too late. Then the living are left with the regret. Prayers, Marcia for you and Randy as Jeff's journey continues.
Went to the fair today and came home whooped! And that was only after about 7 hours! Never even got to the Varied Industries Bldg or the quilts.
Riley got her braces off today. She was so excited.
Here is the top I finished up yesterday for my niece.
This is my son; he will be 46 in October. It's a recent picture taken less than a year ago. He often gets carded when he tries to buy a beer. It used to irritate him but as he "ages", he finds it rather amusing that people think he is so young.
When I was a kid, I loved it when people said I looked older than my age. Then, when I was an adult I loved it when people said I looked younger than my age. So, having both was fun. Now I'm a seasoned citizen and I look my age LOL!
