I was thinking about this, if we cut 16 blocks for 16 ladies, including my own, then that is 256 blocks. Depending on the time frame of when these need to be mail, I might have to op out. I am in charge of the quilt show in July and have a lot to do between now and then. But will keep thinking about it and will give final answer after I learn all the details. Hope that is ok. MaryLee

Hi Betty...Looks like you gave this a lot of thought and I agree that sending the 6" squares around, with no sewing, is probably the best idea. But..as I told you in another post, I really don't like scrappy quilts; I prefer only a few colors with a planned design (call it my obsessive-compulsive personality LOL). Plus I'm right in the middle of two projects that are on a time-line and I need to take care of them first. Thirdly, we leave next week for 6 weeks in Texas and I know I won't get squares cut/mailed before that. So I'm going to opt out of this quilt. I'm sure there will be others that people will come across that will work with a group.
I know those who do it will have fun as long as everyone fulfills her obligation to send the required number of squares within the time frame you set up. Have a great time, Ladies!!

Good Evening everyone. Have a couple of questions to ask everyone in the group. Hopefully everyone will read this message. It was brought to my attention that the Cottage Romance Quilt is made of 6 7/8 inch squares. The Scrappy Friendship Quilt is made of just 6 inch squares. Question to all, do we want a 80 inch square quilt or a 88 x 100 inch quilt?????? Second question is This is a list I have written down of those that are interested in the group project, If I have your name on the list and you do not wish to do the quilt let me know, or if I don't have your name and you want to do the quilt please let me know. Names I got, Sandy O, MaryLee, Rhonda,Trish,Tammy,Andrea,Melzee. The way it looks right now if all 16 members want to do a quilt we will be mailing 6 inch blocks to each other and we all make a quilt. 8 6 inch light print blocks and 8 6 inch medium to dark print blocks. We will all be cutting the blocks we get in half and sewing them together ourselves. One light print triangle with a medium to dark print triangle. Everyones sewing machine sews differently so just mailing the blocks to each other is the best to do our quilt. I also thought of something else today. I don't know if everyone has labels for there quilts they make. What you think about mailing a label with your name on it right along with your blocks you send each member in the group. That way each of us can sew the label of all the members on the quilt that we construct. Any imput please feel free to do so. Happy Quilting Betty

NOW I know where I saw that quilt; I, too, got the subscription mailing from Quilt Magazine. Boy, the price was great...$10 for a year...most of the mags seem to be more like $20-$25 these days. I can't understand why when most of it is paid by advertising and some are even charging postage now. I let all my mags expire except for Fons and Porter Love of Quilting but I did re-sub to Quilt with that good deal.

I wish I had something to make me warn right now, and you are so correct on quilting, it helps me unwind! I will not be able to quilt this Sat. I have a niece getting married and have to help set up and all that stuff. I also got that invite in the mail today with the pattern, that is cool! So how are we doing this project? Do I just make one and share pics with you all, or, do we each make some blocks and send to others and then put together the blocks we get from others? Is someone going to be in charge? MaryLee

Hey everyone, the wind is howling and if its as bad as I think it will be in the morning, I will be staying home. MaryLee, most of my quilting is done on the weekends too. Most evenings Im to tired to quilt. Usually in bed by 9pm and up by 5am or so. I like doing things I can start and finish in a weekend. I was telling Betty, that today in my mail I got an invite to subscribe the Quilt Mag and they sent me the pattern that she wants to use for the group proj. Is that cool or what?? I think that is really a nice pattern. You have so many options with it and its not complicated. Sometimes you just need to sew and not be complicated, you know?? It really is theropy for me, most non quilters dont get it, they say oh it would make me nervous. Nonsense, it unwinds me and comforts me and makes me feel warm. Is that silly or what?? Anyway enuf soap box for now. I wonder if it has any thing to do with the wine I have been drinking. Maybe that is why Im feeling warm?? Anyway, Good night and God Bless you all. Stay safe and warm. Rhonda

Hello Everyone. How you all doing. I just got back from DM taking my dad to the doctor. Not as bad as I thought it would be. The interstate 35 was all clear on the way home. Slush on the inside lane going up. Everything turned out alright. Thank goodness. I guess this evening I will be finishing up my embelishments on my cat blocks and possiable starting a new project. Pretty soon I should have my scraps all used up. Hurrah. Happy Quilting everyone. Betty

Good morning ladies, I am at work and not wanting to be! But even if they call school off I still have to come, the admin office is always open. Any way, I got alot done on Sat, I got all 9 bloks done for a new quilt, that has to be done before July. Funny how I could get out to go to a quilt group in all that snow, but I would have cancel a doctor app. I do not get to quilt as much in the week as I wish I could, so weekends are pretty much it most of the time.MaryLee

Morning all, I am home today because we were supposed to take my son to Carroll to get his wisdom teeth pulled, but weather is bad and blizzard on the way so we will reschedule. I might stay home from work tomorrow too. If the wind blows 50 mph like they say, the roads will be really nasty. I worked on UFO's yesterday. Finished 2 toppers and readly to quilt another that I had pieced. Im trying to get those done before starting anything new. That doesnt always work but usually have good intentions. Everyone stay safe and warm and happy quilting. Rhonda
