Betty, Is that the Feb/March 2008 issue of Quilt or 2009? The person who gave you the pattern at the quilt shop, has she made the quilt herself or why was she passing out the pattern? If she has experience with this pattern, it might be a good person to ask questions if you get stuck.

Good Morning everyone. I been working on a plan for the group quilt. I guess the first thing I would like to do is send a picture of the paper the lady gave me at the quilt shop to show everyone what I am talking about. Everyone may decide that this is not the quilt we would like to do. I found this quilt under another name. Does any of you ladies get the magazine called "Quilt" If you do look on page 53-55. On page 55 it shows different variations that we can do this quilt. I think each of us making this quilt which ever way we want to will be pretty neat. If anyone does not get this magazine if you will send me your email I will send you a copy of the 2 pages about this quilt project. Then we can go from there. I just emailed 2 of my friends this morning about this group hoping they will join. I think they will like this group as much as I do. Let me know if you get the magazine. It is the feb/mar issue. Betty

Hi Melzee-Sorry I can't help you with that one. I have never tackled a T-shirt quilt but I think Tammy's experience with fusible web is a very good idea!

Melzee - I have made 3 t-shirt quilts. The first for my son, and they were so well liked that 2 other people asked for the same. I didn't use a pattern. My sone had so many t-shirts from his music/speech/drama, and the traditional 12-block with sashing didn't work. I'd be happy to show you it sometime (my plan is to get pictures on my "blog" this weekend and that would be one of them), but basically what it is is a collage type look. It takes quite a bit of measuring, then ironing on the fusible webbing to stabilize it, and putting it together. They really are fun - and really interesting to do! Tammy

Hi All...Just catching up on what everyone has been writing here. I like Sallee's idea of doing a signature/address block so we can have a record of everyone taking part. That way, too, if others join the site after we start, but want to join in the fun, it will be do-able for everyone. Then after we set a stopping date, each can set, sash and border to their heart's desire!! What fun to see all the finished projects.

Andrea...I entered a three things in the state fair for the first time this past August. My quilts didn't win a ribbon, but I really didn't expect one with all the beautiful quilts there made by more experienced quilters than myself. Mostly I did it to see what the judges said I needed to improve upon. Binding was the issue on both quilts. I thought it was pretty square, but they want it 90 degrees. Maybe I'll start finishing my quilts with rounded corners!! My tote bag, however, got a blue ribbon. I was sooooo surprised and excited. It was one that I made out of fabric wrapped clotheline. It was fun to enter, so I'll probably do it again this year.

Just found out that one of my 'adopted' (spent many hours at our house in high school) sons and his wife are having a baby...NEXT MONTH!!...I got the invite for the shower in the mail today. So guess what I'm going to be doing for the next two weeks?!? Eeeek...wish me luck. Probably be sewing the binding on in the car on the way to the shower.

Hi Andrea...I have never entered anything but have friends who have. The judges are VERY particular about things such as matching seams, hand-sewn bindings, points that are perfect...that sort of thing. Practice is all it would take from now until fair time. Go for it!

Oh look - we have 13 members now! Maybe we should wait a week or so to organize the block exchange. I noticed the Quilt with Us group was in the new CT catalog that came out this week. There may be several new members - wouldn't that be fun!!!!

Hi everyone-I thought I joined this group a few days ago but I guess I was in the wrong place.Hope I'm not too late! I live in Waterloo,Iowa and enjoy all aspects of quilting. We have several nice quilt shops in our area. I would be interested in a block exchange. I have never done one, so I wouldn't be sure how to organize one, but would like to take part. Currently I am working on a Snowman wallhanging.

I wouldn't mind doing the quilt exchange thing if someone can do the planning. I'm kind of confused about it, as I have never done one before, but I'm sure I would get the help I need from all of you nice ladies!

I have another question for all of you. Has anyone ever entered anything in the state fair quilt contests? I am thinking about doing so, but I need to practice like crazy! I need to look on the website to find out the deadlines and all.
Andrea
