Hi Joanne - That's my home too! I now live in Calgary, AB and find it very different. I go back to NS often as my Mother and Sisters are there, along with niece and nephew, etc. My hometown was Bridgetown.

Hi all
I live in Tennessee but grew up in the beautiful Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia. I really miss home and it was nice to find this group. I hope it keeps growing.

Good morning - our snow is all gone, but it is a gloomy day here. They are giving flood warnings all along the Mississippi River, but we won't be affected - we live up on a bluff several miles from the river.
I have a lot of unfinished projects right now - not my usual way of doing things. I have five quilt tops done, ready for quilting. I usually complete each item as I go, but was at a quilt retreat last week and got several things done.
Hope all is well with all of you. Stay safe and happy.

Hi Friends!! It is cold this morning in SE Iowa - 5 degrees when I logged on. Of course that may not seem so bad if you live in Canada, but it is cold to me.
I've been busy working on a couple of things - one a wall hanging with bright spring colors and the other is a mystery quilt in cream, brown and teal. It is coming together quickly - have the last clue and almost ready to join the blocks to make the top. It has a cool pieced border that will be fun to make.
Have a great day.

Good Morning all! I am from Nova Scotia's Annapolis Valley - and had a great time in Mabou, Cape Breton, last spring. There is a lovely quilt shop there and I plan to return this year.

Hi friends!!! Have you all been busy? I finished up a quilt top last night and will get it to the quilter today. It is for a charity event on Feb. 13, and I'm cutting it pretty close to have the quilter finish it in time. Thankfully it is a small quilt (48 x 59) so shouldn't take her long.
Hope you are all staying warm and safe. Happy New Year.

I received a shipment of fabric from Connecting Threads today. More pillowcase material. I am going to sew some for charities during 2010 and decided to get some fabric while it was on sale. It is all so pretty. I have already made 6 Christmas themed ones. Many of the others will not be seasonal - just pretty or cute or manly!!!
Hope you all have a Happy New Year.

We retired in 2004 and both had some hobbies that we were looking forward to doing. However, in March of 2005, we purchased a Goldwing trike (3-wheeled motorcycle) and life has not been the same since!!! We have travelled over 62,000 miles on the trike since then, visiting 45 of the 48 continental states plus some of Canada. We traded in that trike in August and have a new one that already has about 2,000 miles on it. We plan to travel again this summer. We have gotten involved in the Goldwing group and have made friends all over the country. Not at all what I thought we'd be doing. I'd never even been on a motorcycle before.
Congrats to your DH on his retirement. Hope that you two find as much happiness in retirement as we have, whatever you choose to spend your time doing. My DH and I had never shared a hobby before - this is all new territory for us. But we are happier than we've ever been.
Have fun with your new fabric - I have some coming also. I'm making pillowcases for charity (have completed 6 this week) and will be using a lot of the new fabric for that.

So glad you got home safe, Santa has come and gone, but left good memories to last the year. My DH retires on Dec. 31, and so we start a new adventure in our lives. Must say I have mixes emotions at the present time. I have a bunch of fabric coming from Connecting Threads, looking forward to the arrival. (like need any more!!)
Talk again soon, have fun.

I got home safe and sound and am now just waiting for Santa!! It is raining here in Iowa, but snow is expected north and west of here. We will probably just get more rain (we have flood watches now) or maybe 1 - 2" of snow. We don't have to leave the house for a couple days, so we're set. I have some new material to make pillowcases, so I can always cut them out and get started. I also bought supplies to make Christmas cards for next year - I ran out of time for this year!!!
Have a Merry Christmas all!!
