Even though November will be a busy month for everyone with all of the preparations for Thanksgiving and the upcoming Christmas season, I don't want to lose the momentum on finishing my UFO! After all, I'd like to clear out a little space just in case I get something "quilty" for my birthday later this month, or even Christmas next month!
In November I'm choosing to finish my "Re-Purposed" tote bag so that I finish the wallhanging/lap quilt that it will end up being. What UFO's are you going to finish this month? We still have November and December to reduce the number of UFO's that we'll begin the new year with, and just think how satisfying that will be!
I love quilt retreats. I am famous for playing and not accomplishing much except for having fun. I did some sewing this time though. I finished the top of quilt 1 for my Nov challenge and it is at the quilter now. I also finished top of quilt 2. I need to make a scrappy back still and give that to the quilter. My goal was to finish 2 quilts.
I really need to try quilting one of these days. I may try quilting a table runner for my Dec challenge.
Challenge progress - got all the blocks sewn together, ironed on the cat appliques and will stitch them down today after I go get some new thread as the stuff I have now keeps breaking....arghhhh. Will post a pic of the top as soon as I'm done. Happy weekend!
I was going great guns on this month's challenge until I ran head-long into the realization that I desperately needed to attend to coming up with ideas....and getting them executed....for Christmas gifts. I am going to be hard-pressed to get them all done in time, and am likely going to have to once again put my UFO on the back burner. What with Thanksgiving, birthday, family events and times taking up nearly all of the remaining part of this month, I am fairly certain that it would be at least next month before I can even think about it again...and that's not counting working on Christmas gifts! Egad!!
Yippee!! I finished the fishbowl top! I hung it from the top of my dresser so I could get the whole thing in...You'll notice a bulge in the top - Harry just had to crawl into the tent! Today I'm piecing "leftovers" to make the backing. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Barb
This is such a neat pattern - putting things in jars like this. A friend of mine teaches it to local kids in the summertime - you should see the variety of things they come up with to put into their jars!
Thanks guys. It's a bit hard to see some of the prints, but I collected things for my SIL who lives in LA that are not only fish but Pelicans (the state bird), aligators and crawfish. The cat on the bottom looks something like their cat. It's been a fun project and I'm looking forward to my Christmas candy jar wall hanging. Thenk I think I'll be done with this theme....maybe!
Hi Diana - I had some of the fabric, then searching e-quilter, e-bay and some other shops for "fish" fabric turned up some cool results. Then I decided to add some LA-specific things and also searched the online shops for things like lobsters and crabs. Then I remembered that they also hunt ducks, so that was another short search. I guess total it took me about 3 weeks (in stages when I realized I needed a few more items) from the time I found the fabrics online until I got them all inhouse. Ain't the internet great?
I love your quilt and all of the fun fabrics. I have been collecting fish fabric. Every time I go to the beach I buy a new fat quarter. I haven't planned a quilt for them yet. This is very nice. Congratulations on finishing the top!
