Quilt With Us

Out of curiousity, I was wondering what you tend to listen to when you are quilting. I like classic rock and new age stuff. (I know, I'm eccentric.) Currently, I am listening to the beatles anthogy and across the universe sound track.

I listen to audio books. Right now I am listening to Nora Roberts "The Hollow"

oh, is that the "7" series? Loved it in book form. I never thought of audio books while sewing - great idea!

I usually listen to tv from the next room... if it's something I really want to actually watch, I will sometimes do handwork.

Hi Annie, great question!

My sewing area is in the livingroom (our house is a tiny box), so usually the TV is on like wallpaper. I used to have HGTV or DIY on for creative inspiration, but now it seems that all they show is how to sell a house. Sometimes there's a movie on or news when things are happening, but mostly, just noise in the background.

Hi Annie,

I have a quilt on a frame in our 2nd bedroom so I can have the TV on. If there is a program that I want to watch or a movie on the Hallmark channel I can watch it and quilt too. I put a quilt in just after I joined this group and I have all of the blocks done and am working on the borders. I need it done by the middle of May. Then I can work on another UFO. This is a great group keeps you working on projects. Marjorie

I have a TV in my sewing room and I also play CD"S. Neil Diamond is usually singing away. I do watch the TV especially the news. I save handsewing for watching TV at night with my hubby. Relaxing time.

Hi Annie,

What a great discussion question. I'm like you but I prefer to think I'm ECLECTIC rather than eccentric : )

When I'm in the sewing room I listen to music. I, too, listen to New Age preferring piano and guitar music like David Lanz, Liz Story and Danny Wright. For guitar music I'm a big fan of Will Ackerman. I'm not too much into the American Indian stuff or ambient mood music. If I need energetic music I like Rob Thomas or Dan Fogelberg, even Abba. Funny you should mention Across the Universe. I just recently saw it on TV an loved it.
I have all of Paul McCartney's latest CDs. I've been in love with him since I was 11.

Sewfun26 mentioned audio books. Great idea.

When I hand sew I watch TV; anything and everything. I could be a TV junkie if I let myself. News, movies, talk shows, game shows, Tru tv, reruns you name it. I worked my whole life and when I wasn't working I was raising kids so every day to me feels like I'm playing hooky.

DH recently put a TV in my sewing room. When we moved into our house, this was a bedroom, so all of the proper oulets/connections were already there. DH is a TV junkie - how could I survive spending so much time in there without a TV? Our provider gives us a number of music channels. Those are always nice. And I do have my favorite few - NUMB3RS (I'm a math geek too), In about a month or so, American Idol will be down to their finalists, I like it after all of the corny auditions are finished and the true talent is what they have to show you. Then there's my old standby of silly cartoons on Nickelodean. My set also has a DVD player, so I can watch a movie, or a book on some technique that I need repeated every time I do it.

Love NUMB3RS!! We watch it every Friday. I love the family/friend relationships and I also love the fact that they give the audience tons of credit for having brains and don't dumb down the math, just put it in a context we can all understand - I happen to me math-challenged...thank goodness for a husband who isn't and Excel! Couldn't do my proposals without either one! Barb

Wow - someone else out there does like NUMB3RS! - In addition to the individual episodes, I like the "stories in the background". Things like relationships between characters of the show, the time Larry took a season off to participate in an outer space mission (same season that said actor was a regular on 24), stuff like that.

Me too and so does my husband. Tomorrow night, looking forward to it - hope it's a new episode. Barb

Count me in as a Numb3rs addict to. (Pun intended!)
