What this group is about

I don’t know about you, but I have too many things started. Join me in my quest to get finish what I’ve started. The deal is, for every 2 projects I finish, I get to reward myself by starting something new. You can make your own rules, or give the group ideas for new rules as we go. I think it’ll be fun to ask this group for advice on what project to wrap up next, show my progress with photo’s, get motivation from each other when I want to break my own agreement (trust me, I am weak willed when it comes to new projects).

1. No purchase necessary
2. Timeframe: this is an ongoing group with no defined end time.
3. If you are not a member of our Quilt with Us Community yet, click the "Signup and Join" box in the upper-right corner. 4. Post questions, project feedback, and pictures of your progress.

TUFO - means Tuesday UFO - those of us interested try to make a small dent in whatever UFO we are working on. Tuesday is simply the day the Connecting Threads gals get together to sew and craft...you can make it any day you like, but we got a kick out of the title. Once in awhile we can't make it on Tuesday so we move it to Wednesday - yup WUFO. Report here what you are planning to work on, then the next day, let us all know how you did. Nothing is required, it's just for fun.

Happy Easter!  I hope everyone has a lovely week-end.  Hubby and I are getting together with my son and his family on Monday.

Thank you, Vilma!

Janet, my son told me that I should have said that my quilting secrets were hidden on the side you did not see. LOL

I'm on to another UFO - a variation of the 9 Patch with more of the navy and green fabric.

Elisabeth,  I love the floating blocks of the Pony Express.  Just stunning.

Haha! Janet, that is the whole thing.  The rectangle on the left shows the   route of the Pony Express and all the  places the Pony Express serviced.

Maybe it is meant to have the left side be the top but that doesn't give me the size of a quilt.  The piece of fabric was donated to QOV but they would not use it because it is inappropriate for an injured Canadian soldier's quilt.  I bought it from them  and made this quilt.  I'm saving it for a little American boy.

Elizabeth,  I really like what is shown, but is there a way you can take a pic of your Pony Express quilt showing the entire thing?

Elizabeth Phillips,   thanks for information.  I really like your scrap pieced back.  That's in my bucket list now.

Hi Vilma,

I make a game out of making pieced 12 1/2" scrap blocks for backings.  I sew 2 or 3 scraps together, iron the seams open, square the small square or rectangle, then start all over.  right now I have a pile of pieced blocks smaller than 12 1/2" waiting to be ironed and squared up and a pile of pieced blocks waiting to have more scraps sewn to them to finally come out at 12 1/2".  I usually take a pile downstairs to the party room on Tues. and Thurs. mornings to either iron or square up.  Every scrap bigger than about 2" gets used up.  I never run out of scraps.  I press all the seams open to reduce bulk.

Elizabeth Phillips,  I love your scrappy pieced backing.  How do you do it?  Do you aim for a certain size blocks and then pieced the blocks?  Inquiring mind wants to know.  The top is just as great.
