What this group is about

I don’t know about you, but I have too many things started. Join me in my quest to get finish what I’ve started. The deal is, for every 2 projects I finish, I get to reward myself by starting something new. You can make your own rules, or give the group ideas for new rules as we go. I think it’ll be fun to ask this group for advice on what project to wrap up next, show my progress with photo’s, get motivation from each other when I want to break my own agreement (trust me, I am weak willed when it comes to new projects).

1. No purchase necessary
2. Timeframe: this is an ongoing group with no defined end time.
3. If you are not a member of our Quilt with Us Community yet, click the "Signup and Join" box in the upper-right corner. Once you're a member, you will see a green plus sign and a link to "Join Karen's UFO Quilt Along" in the upper-right of the group page. Clicking on the link will allow you to join this Quilt Along.
4. Post questions, project feedback, and pictures of your progress.

TUFO - means Tuesday UFO - those of us interested try to make a small dent in whatever UFO we are working on. Tuesday is simply the day the Connecting Threads gals get together to sew and craft...you can make it any day you like, but we got a kick out of the title. Once in awhile we can't make it on Tuesday so we move it to Wednesday - yup WUFO. Report here what you are planning to work on, then the next day, let us all know how you did. Nothing is required, it's just for fun.

WOOHOO, got my first UFO done. Celebration time. LOL it was just a small project. A little apron and oven mitt set for my 4 year old granddaughter. Now I am not claiming to have the oldest UFOs around BUT I had originally started this set for my 4 year old daughter who will be 30 on her next birthday.

Karen, thanks for clearing that up. I tried to put one in and all I got was code. I'll try to add my UFO pic here -

Carolyn, when you're ready to post a picture and have a digital image, you can either add it here or add it to your blog (or both). If you add it here, click Add a Comment, then click the little green box (see the B I U symbols - keep looking right of that) - it will ask you where your image is (browse). Just keep clicking through and youl'll have posted your picture. Can't wait to see it.

I don't know what constitutes a UFO, but my definition is one that is not yet completed into a top. I'm a "Topper", and as long as the top is done, I consider that complete (for me). I store them in a big plastic bin, and tell my DH that if I ever need a last minute gift (which *has* happened), I have a quilt or wallhanging ready to quilt and wrap! :)

With the added encouragement and conscience of belonging to this group, I have last evening finished piecing a UFO wallhanging and am putting the sandwich together today. With my new symbol system that moves it from P for piecing to Q for quilting - definitely a step in the right direction! I have now to decide which of the other projects to tackle next for piecing and or border finishing. My enthusiasm is still at an all time high with regard to UFO's so I must carry on with the momentum and stay faithful to reporting on this page - it is somehow more difficult to start a new project when I am confessing in writing to all of you how many UFO's I have left!

There wasn't a pattern name when I bought the put together kit from a Quilt shop, it was one of those Layer Cake and Jellyroll kits. I just fell in love with the colour selections.

I have several things I want to finish and some new things I want to do in 2009. I need to get organized and I refuse to start a new project untill I get some other things finished. I have a baby quilt started and I want to finish it so I can send it to my granddaughter. How can I posted a picture when it is finished? I am very interested in your group. Thanks Carolyn

Edith I love your UFO! Is that Kansas Troubles?

We are having a snow day here in Baker City, OR. First ever in the 6 years we have lived here. Of course the kids are thrilled! I however have to go to work - bummer. Have a great day everyone!

Hi everyone! I just joined CT over the weekend and this looks like the perfect group for me. I never used to have UFO's because I used to have discipline(hahaha). I never started a new project until I finished the one I was working on. (something I was taught very young, how boring was that?) My quilting friends laughed at me! They told me I HAD to have some UFO's so I could leave them to unsuspecting daughters-in-law when I die. Well, not any longer, once I figured out how much fun it was to move on to the next project, discipline went right out the window! Now, chances are good that I will have a few UFO's to leave a few someday to the daughter-in-law that I am teaching to quilt. One of them was the tool I used to get her started, she was attracted by the colors of one of my projects and I asked her if she'd like to help me finish it, now she's hooked! Now I have a stack of tops that need to be quilted. Someday I'll get them finished...but there are always so many new colors and ideas to try, I'm easily distracted! Maybe this group will help me focus, then again, it might just feed this addiction! Can't wait to see everybody's progress, Happy Quilting!

Hi everyone. My name is Pat and I live in Western NY. Reading your ideas about finishing UFOs got me to look at some of my projects. I finished a lap quilt that is to be given to the local nursing home by my quilt club. Hope to keep up with my projects better this year.
