What this group is about

I don’t know about you, but I have too many things started. Join me in my quest to get finish what I’ve started. The deal is, for every 2 projects I finish, I get to reward myself by starting something new. You can make your own rules, or give the group ideas for new rules as we go. I think it’ll be fun to ask this group for advice on what project to wrap up next, show my progress with photo’s, get motivation from each other when I want to break my own agreement (trust me, I am weak willed when it comes to new projects).

1. No purchase necessary
2. Timeframe: this is an ongoing group with no defined end time.
3. If you are not a member of our Quilt with Us Community yet, click the "Signup and Join" box in the upper-right corner. Once you're a member, you will see a green plus sign and a link to "Join Karen's UFO Quilt Along" in the upper-right of the group page. Clicking on the link will allow you to join this Quilt Along.
4. Post questions, project feedback, and pictures of your progress.

TUFO - means Tuesday UFO - those of us interested try to make a small dent in whatever UFO we are working on. Tuesday is simply the day the Connecting Threads gals get together to sew and craft...you can make it any day you like, but we got a kick out of the title. Once in awhile we can't make it on Tuesday so we move it to Wednesday - yup WUFO. Report here what you are planning to work on, then the next day, let us all know how you did. Nothing is required, it's just for fun.

I want to be an active part of this group but for the next month, I will be too busy to participate. Is there a way that I can just come to the site to see what's going on and NOT receive emails stating that a comment has been posted? I am sorry I am so busy right now but I am preparing to attend Jinny Beyer's last Seminar on Hilton Head Is. I am so excited - it's my first Seminar! Hugs, Deb

Hi Cornwoman,
I saw our coment about QOV. It stands for Quilts of Valor. Just put that in and you will go to the web site. The quilts are given to injuried service men and wormen. You put together a top and then go to web site and they connect you with a longarm quilter that quilts it. I have done to and sent off. You don't know who gets them but if you go to the web site you can see pictures . Maybe that is something we can do with one of our UFO'S. I was connected with a lady in upstate NY and we e-mail to each other. I have sent here quilts of my own to do. By the way they donate there time quilting them.

I did get the spreadsheet started to do a listing of the UFOs and planned projects that are hiding in my studio - and I found ones I forgot were there. I don't suppose anyone else has ever done that LOL. I have gone back to finishing table runners I was working before the holidays and got 3 finished yesterday and 4 more ready for the final quilting which is very simple - these are all from strip or border fabrics and use 60 degree triangles. It truly is a fun and easy project, I just decided to make about 30 of them. I used many for little gifts at the holidays and will be using some for our Guild show this fall. Will be going back to my long arm tomorrow as I have QOV tops to do so they can head to CO in February so the UFOs will have to find their way into the schedule. At least reading your progress will keep me motivated to not let them sit too long. I did do some reorganization so have some of them by my machine to get my attention. Have a great day.

Well the flue bug wiped me out last night, I was shivering all night long, and I feel as if I have been squashed like a bug. Have to skip my day in the gym. My throat is sore and my glands in my neck are swollen. So I won't be touching the quilting blocks till I am over this. Thanks for every one on this site. Yay. Mr. G.

Cheryl - I was looking at your pics, and noticed some treadle sewing machines in the background. Do you collect; do you use them? I do all my piecing and some fm quilting on my old machines. Can't remember the last time I used an electric machine (or as my Treadleon group calls them - machines with a tail). :)

I made progress on a UFO this weekend. I had the applique blocks finished in September and I got them put together Sunday. Yea! I have a border to put on it next then will be ready to begin the quilting. This one will be machine quilted. Hope to be posting a photo of it finished in the next week or two.

To everyone here on this site, I should make it easier for you to know how to prounounce my name - it is a Sanskrit name from India - but I just tell everyone to call me "Mr. G." as it is much easier to say, and everyone can remember that much easier than Gurudas Natarajan - for those who would like to prounounce my name right, the u's are ooohs, and the a's are ahhhs. And the Jan in my last name is prounounced as an American would say the J, it is a hard J and pronounced as such, as in "John" and that is how you say the last syllable in my last name. In any case, Mr. G does very well and I feel good with that moniker. My name in Sanskrit means, "servant of God who is the beloved Lord of the Dance. Love it. Thanks to everyone for being there. Good to hear that your UFO is progressing Bev. I think I just came down with a case of the flue from waiting outside for the Bookmobile to be ready for my load of return books and for my new checked out books. But, I will just have to grin and bear it and know that all I have to do is just crawl under one of my quilts and get real warm, drink lots of fluids, and get lots of rest. But, dag nabbit, I wanted to get some more blocks made for my twin size quilts I am making for my God Sons and for other more needy kids or hospice patients. Blessings on every one and theirs. Mr. G. The woman in the picture is my long time friend and the mother of my two God Sons, Alex and John.

Hello everyone! Well, you've all inspired me, I pulled a UFO quilt top out of my pile last week! I think it was one of the older ones. My husband asked "Is that one for OUR bed this time?" I said if he liked it, it was. He asked me to tie it instead of quilt it, so I did. I finished the binding on it last night! 1 UFO DOWN! YAY!!! I took a couple of pictures (after I talked the cat into giving it up). I am posting them to my page if you would like to see them. Thanks for the inspiration! Now I can reward myself and start that new kit from CT that came in the mail on Saturday!

Well, it sounds like everyone is busy quilting and finishing up their UFOs. I made some progress on my applique borders for the wallhanging I am trying to get finished. Maybe 2 more days of hand sewing and then I can finish the top and get to quilting it. I have also started cutting out the fabric for a spring time bed quilt. I had the pattern and most of the fabrics for it for awhile (a year actually) and had cut out some of the background blocks but last spring and then summer passed and I left it in the UFO pile while working on fall and xmas things. At the quilt shop the other day I found the perfect fabric to use for a border on it so now am anxious to get that out of the UFO pile. May actually get it finished to use THIS spring! This group is terrific. reading about all of the progress everyone else is making is keeping me inspired and working.
