What this group is about

I don’t know about you, but I have too many things started. Join me in my quest to get finish what I’ve started. The deal is, for every 2 projects I finish, I get to reward myself by starting something new. You can make your own rules, or give the group ideas for new rules as we go. I think it’ll be fun to ask this group for advice on what project to wrap up next, show my progress with photo’s, get motivation from each other when I want to break my own agreement (trust me, I am weak willed when it comes to new projects).

1. No purchase necessary
2. Timeframe: this is an ongoing group with no defined end time.
3. If you are not a member of our Quilt with Us Community yet, click the "Signup and Join" box in the upper-right corner. Once you're a member, you will see a green plus sign and a link to "Join Karen's UFO Quilt Along" in the upper-right of the group page. Clicking on the link will allow you to join this Quilt Along.
4. Post questions, project feedback, and pictures of your progress.

TUFO - means Tuesday UFO - those of us interested try to make a small dent in whatever UFO we are working on. Tuesday is simply the day the Connecting Threads gals get together to sew and craft...you can make it any day you like, but we got a kick out of the title. Once in awhile we can't make it on Tuesday so we move it to Wednesday - yup WUFO. Report here what you are planning to work on, then the next day, let us all know how you did. Nothing is required, it's just for fun.

I guess I"m not the only one with UFO"s. I have mine plus some of my mothers. I try to work on something each day. Maybe only a few stitches put it's something. You all sound like a great group. Thanks Marjorie

I think individual rules is how this is going. So, I'm not counting projects not started yet as UFO's because they not started yet. They are just stash for now. My goal is to finish 2 UFO's before starting a stash projects all before purchasing new projects. That should get me going. I'm currently working on a baby quilt UFO.

So if we don't really count the future projects that we have labeled as such, but our intent for a kit was, at the time of purchase, to actually make the thing *soon*, should that be one of the projects at the top of the list of things to do right after we complete two UFOs? Or is that tempting fate? LOL

I have a quilt retreat coming up (5 days on a beautiful mountain); and one of my guilds if having a "sit & sew" night. I'm hoping to make a BIG dent in my UFO pile this month. :) Di in TN

Looking at some of these comments, it looks as though I am NOT the only one with more than a few UFO's !! This should be a great way to get the nudges I need to complete somethings. Thanks in advance for help.

I"ve heard that until you actually cut into the fabric, it's not a UFO. :) Works for me! Di in TN

That's right Traci - your stash is not a UFO. Did you have a particular project in mind for that purple floral that you just had to have 2 yards of? (3 years ago) I didn't. It's just in my stash waiting to be used.

Hi. I just joined the group because I also have plenty of UFOs. I like QuiltDragon's comment though....if I don't have to count the piles of fabric that have a pattern with them as an UFO, then I only have about 12 UFOs. Otherwise, I have about 30. What about kits? I guess they should count as an UFO because it would be hard to use the fabric for anything else...I think my UFO count is going up again. I better get back to quilting.

I've just joined the group. I have plenty of UFOs. My goals for now include finishing a baby/toddler quilt for a friend of mine, a bargello class project (new), and a charity quilt. Unfortunately my computer attached to my printer/scanner is not working, so I can't show any pictures, yet. Back to work!

Thank goodness piles of fabric with patterns don't count as UFOs - you can always use that fabric for another _important_ project. Looking forward to checking out the before/after UFOs. I recently cleaned out my storage room and found lots of those piles with patterns and divided them up in my stash. That left me with a few finished tops and some half-done ones. Today, I'm off to start finishing one of those (mixed in with cutting the fabric for a new UFO). I think I'll take some photos of them for the frig - sort of like a quiting diet reminder :)
