What this group is about

I don’t know about you, but I have too many things started. Join me in my quest to get finish what I’ve started. The deal is, for every 2 projects I finish, I get to reward myself by starting something new. You can make your own rules, or give the group ideas for new rules as we go. I think it’ll be fun to ask this group for advice on what project to wrap up next, show my progress with photo’s, get motivation from each other when I want to break my own agreement (trust me, I am weak willed when it comes to new projects).

1. No purchase necessary
2. Timeframe: this is an ongoing group with no defined end time.
3. If you are not a member of our Quilt with Us Community yet, click the "Signup and Join" box in the upper-right corner. Once you're a member, you will see a green plus sign and a link to "Join Karen's UFO Quilt Along" in the upper-right of the group page. Clicking on the link will allow you to join this Quilt Along.
4. Post questions, project feedback, and pictures of your progress.

TUFO - means Tuesday UFO - those of us interested try to make a small dent in whatever UFO we are working on. Tuesday is simply the day the Connecting Threads gals get together to sew and craft...you can make it any day you like, but we got a kick out of the title. Once in awhile we can't make it on Tuesday so we move it to Wednesday - yup WUFO. Report here what you are planning to work on, then the next day, let us all know how you did. Nothing is required, it's just for fun.

does organizing your room count as time spent sewing? (trying to sew at least an hour every day)

Sitting next to me is a baby quilt that needs it's binding finished. I am determined to finish this quilt tonight, Ha Ha. I'll try. Then I can press pieces for two others I'm working on.

My New Year's resolution is to get binding on all those quilts stacked up in my sewing room! I also have many projects to finish.Hopefully, this group will help keep me on task.

What a beautiful smocked dress by Elanie! I used to smock dresses for my daughter years ago! but I haven't smocked in a long time, I am hoping for grandchildren eventually to make things for, hopefully I will have the incentive to finish things then!

Today I'm going to work on my Libby Lehman project. I still have lot's of enthusiasm for it (the class was just this past week), so I want to keep going while I still have momentum. I'll post a pic as soon as it's worthy.

Cheri, I love the handwork because I can do it while watching a movie, but I hate the prep that I have to do in the sewing room before I can sew by hand. But if that's all that's left on many of your projects, you might just have to bite the bullet, so to speak and force yourself to do that little bit.....I'll bet it won't take very long. Reward yourself with something for every step you get accomplished.

Congratulations Elaine! The dress is adorable and your smocking is beautiful! Doesn't it feel great to get something done?!

Another discovery - Very few of my projects have a destination - a specific person or occasion that this project is for. A nephew and his was wife have just adopted 2 boys who were in foster care. Children in my life - that's new for me - it appears to have become a reason to actually finish something.

I may have discovered something about my own UFO'S (maybe someone else sees this also). On a number of them, all that's left to be done is binding - or just a label. The boring parts. Do I dislike doing handwork? Does anyonehave a suggestion on how to make handwork seem not so boring to me?

I finished a UFO!!!!!!!!! Actually, I finished it Sunday but just got the photo done to post. This is not a quilt but needed to be finished first. It's a little smocked dress for my granddaughters first birthday coming up in a couple of weeks. I took a smocking class about 6 or 7 years ago and only made one dress then so I had to do some re-learning to do this one. I make piping out of the dress fabric to go around the collor and across the front of the dress. It doesn't show well in the photo.
