What this group is about

I don’t know about you, but I have too many things started. Join me in my quest to get finish what I’ve started. The deal is, for every 2 projects I finish, I get to reward myself by starting something new. You can make your own rules, or give the group ideas for new rules as we go. I think it’ll be fun to ask this group for advice on what project to wrap up next, show my progress with photo’s, get motivation from each other when I want to break my own agreement (trust me, I am weak willed when it comes to new projects).

1. No purchase necessary
2. Timeframe: this is an ongoing group with no defined end time.
3. If you are not a member of our Quilt with Us Community yet, click the "Signup and Join" box in the upper-right corner. Once you're a member, you will see a green plus sign and a link to "Join Karen's UFO Quilt Along" in the upper-right of the group page. Clicking on the link will allow you to join this Quilt Along.
4. Post questions, project feedback, and pictures of your progress.

TUFO - means Tuesday UFO - those of us interested try to make a small dent in whatever UFO we are working on. Tuesday is simply the day the Connecting Threads gals get together to sew and craft...you can make it any day you like, but we got a kick out of the title. Once in awhile we can't make it on Tuesday so we move it to Wednesday - yup WUFO. Report here what you are planning to work on, then the next day, let us all know how you did. Nothing is required, it's just for fun.

Oh my yes, UFOs, now that I am retired I have absolutely no excuse not to get them finished. Actually our quilt guild has put forth a challenge the past two years on UFOs. I missed last year's deadline by a few months LOL, but did get one I had started several years ago finished and gifted for Christmas. (forgot to take a picture though) I like Karen's idea of finishing 2 before starting one. Good Rule. It will be hard though as I have just learned that I am going to be a Grandma again. So I had better get moving if I want to make a baby quilt before July. My goal for 2009 is also to whittle down my stash of fat quarters. Good thing that I have lots as this retirement sure isn't making me rich. LOL

Hi everyone! I'm new here and when I saw this group I knew this is where I wanted to begin! About 4 or 5 years ago I made a list of the UFO's I had then and it was huge! I got discouraged and overwhelmed by the long list and lack of progress. So this time I'm not making a list or setting a quantifying goal, I'm just going to start working on them one at a time, and when I finish that one I'll see what's calling me and saying that it needs finished.

Before I start on the quilts I am going to finish a purse that I began with some of my batiks and a template pattern that I got at Thanksgiving time for my birthday. I don't have much left to go on it.

I have already chosen my first UFO to finish...a good sized lap quilt/wallhanging that I made for my mother's wedding in 1995 and had everyone sign and write messages on!

Just retired and am going to attack that pile of UFO's. Don't know where to start, though!! I know there are 2 that I've lost the patterns for, so this should be interesting. Just need all the support I can get and this looks like the place to be!

Boy is this what I need! I have sooooo many ufo's started and ready to be started! I have fabrics and kits wall to wall! Help! Get me jump kicked and encourage me to get them done! I will have to make a list and see what I have so I will know where to begin!

This is just what I need to fulfill my upcoming New Year's resolution....support for my habit will give me (hopefully!) the added impetus to finish the UFO's hanging around my sewing room. I have a large list of those and a very large list of new projects yet to start with the material for them whispering to me everytime I enter my sewing room! Wish me luck and forbearance for 2009!

What a nice bunch of ladies ... I just read that Kathy wants to finish one UFO a month! OMGosh, that's incredible and I can only hope to do half that much. I have half a dozen quilts (that I'll admit to) to finish piecing or quilting. Right now I'm hand stippling a quilt ...using a 12" quilting hoop and stitching almost half a hoop a day. It's not hard work ... actually kind of brainless ... but tedious. If I get involved in watching tv, my stitches start to lengthen and I have to take out a few and continue on. My hubby gave me a lovely wrought iron quilt rack for Christmas and I have hung 6 quilts on it and it doesn't look half bad. lol Now I just have to stay focused and finish what I have started ... so I can get another rack. :)

I need this group ! I am embarrassed by the number of UFO's that I have ! I tell myself not to buy anything new to work on, or to start anything new, but then the fabric takes control of my brain. I will have to make my own rules, and I am going to make them public, so maybe I won't ignore them this time.

Hi, I'm joining this group because even though I plan on getting most of my UFO's finish I never seem to get them done and I'm hoping this will help me. I have to go throu my bins and make a list and post it where I can see it everyday. hopefully this will help. Thanks for letting me join in this.

I'm also trying to make my fabric stash smaller too. I'm in the process of cutting all of my small pieces of fabric in to "scrap" piles (ex: 2 1/2 " strips, 5" squares, etc.). If I have a fabric for a special project I'm putting it in a large zipper baggie with the pattern. I plan on using the "scrap" piles for scrap quilts.
