What this group is about

I don’t know about you, but I have too many things started. Join me in my quest to get finish what I’ve started. The deal is, for every 2 projects I finish, I get to reward myself by starting something new. You can make your own rules, or give the group ideas for new rules as we go. I think it’ll be fun to ask this group for advice on what project to wrap up next, show my progress with photo’s, get motivation from each other when I want to break my own agreement (trust me, I am weak willed when it comes to new projects).

1. No purchase necessary
2. Timeframe: this is an ongoing group with no defined end time.
3. If you are not a member of our Quilt with Us Community yet, click the "Signup and Join" box in the upper-right corner. Once you're a member, you will see a green plus sign and a link to "Join Karen's UFO Quilt Along" in the upper-right of the group page. Clicking on the link will allow you to join this Quilt Along.
4. Post questions, project feedback, and pictures of your progress.

TUFO - means Tuesday UFO - those of us interested try to make a small dent in whatever UFO we are working on. Tuesday is simply the day the Connecting Threads gals get together to sew and craft...you can make it any day you like, but we got a kick out of the title. Once in awhile we can't make it on Tuesday so we move it to Wednesday - yup WUFO. Report here what you are planning to work on, then the next day, let us all know how you did. Nothing is required, it's just for fun.

I'm headed to my mom's in a few hours for a sewing weekend - Fri afternoon and Saturday all day with nothing but sewing (and some time with my dad during breaks). I'm taking my appliqued tablerunner that's well over 3 years old and I'm going to quilt and bind it. I just finished the hand applique a few weeks ago. Of course, ever the optimist, I'm also taking another UFO with high hopes of making progress on two things, but I'll be happy with completing the tablerunner.

I have a lot of USO (un-started objects) does that qualify as UFO, if so, count me in.

Sounds like some of you have taken ACTION...will there be a photo gallery of completed UFO's??? That could be very inspiring!!

You all inspired me to get busy! I was up till midnight, but last night I finished a quilt top that has been pushed aside since October. I also finished a set of 8 coasters for myself (I made a zillion last Christmas for everyone buy me!). Now I need to tackle my 3 unbound quilts, and a tree skirt from 2 years ago that just needs the applique stitching done. My fingers hate to hand stitch - I'm trying to get over that. I also have 8 or 10 'kits' all bagged up and ready to be started. I need to get to those as well and not buy anymore fabric until I get a few of them done. Sew many projects, sew little time! Dayleen

I spent New Year's Day digging out all my UFO's thanks to joining this group. I, too, put them in the 2 gal. ziplok bags. I can see at a glance what is in it and they stack well on my shelves. A friend called while I was doing this and asked if I'd like to go to a quilt retreat in a couple of weeks. Would I!!!! It's at a beautiful retreat center in southern Minnesota and they had 2 cancellations. I just can't wait! I'm not going to take ANY new projects along - UFO's only. Yippee!!!!!

I'm finding so many UFOs while redoing my SR and have been putting the pieces and parts in zip locks. My question is this ... how do I handle situations when something comes along that says "try me - now"? I'm getting interested in the crazy quilting on another board (with lots of tutorials), One Block Wonders, knitting socks, new BOMs, etc.? Help!!!

Hey all, in the process of re organizing and making a list. Really like to get back into my log cabin and this looks like the place to be...

I usually stick with the process until the quilt top is finished, but I have a heck of a time actually getting the tops quilted. If it weren't for my quilt guild's annual quilt show, I might never actually finish anything!

Happy New Year! Wow is this the perfect site for me. I have started rearranging my sewing room, look at all the UFO's and ask myself when am I ever going to get back to these projects? I think that Karen's idea of finishing 2 projects, and then reward yourself with one new is great! Happy Quilting!

wow, just quickly reading thro comments. Sounds like my kind of place where I am not alone. I did start organizing projects into separate shallow plastic bins with lids, but now I have a pile of those sitting in my way, plus a huge Rubbermaid tote under my new cutting table. My son-in-law (married to youngest daughter) redid the old bedroom after my youngest son moved to Seattle. I still keep running out of room because, along with the children of my youngest daughter, my oldest grandchild keep coming to roost. Only place left for a while is one corner of my sewing room. Sigh. But it will get better - have great plans for this room. Happy New Year everyone - happy quilting
