What this group is about

I don’t know about you, but I have too many things started. Join me in my quest to get finish what I’ve started. The deal is, for every 2 projects I finish, I get to reward myself by starting something new. You can make your own rules, or give the group ideas for new rules as we go. I think it’ll be fun to ask this group for advice on what project to wrap up next, show my progress with photo’s, get motivation from each other when I want to break my own agreement (trust me, I am weak willed when it comes to new projects).

1. No purchase necessary
2. Timeframe: this is an ongoing group with no defined end time.
3. If you are not a member of our Quilt with Us Community yet, click the "Signup and Join" box in the upper-right corner. Once you're a member, you will see a green plus sign and a link to "Join Karen's UFO Quilt Along" in the upper-right of the group page. Clicking on the link will allow you to join this Quilt Along.
4. Post questions, project feedback, and pictures of your progress.

TUFO - means Tuesday UFO - those of us interested try to make a small dent in whatever UFO we are working on. Tuesday is simply the day the Connecting Threads gals get together to sew and craft...you can make it any day you like, but we got a kick out of the title. Once in awhile we can't make it on Tuesday so we move it to Wednesday - yup WUFO. Report here what you are planning to work on, then the next day, let us all know how you did. Nothing is required, it's just for fun.

I'm also trying to make my fabric stash smaller too. I'm in the process of cutting all of my small pieces of fabric in to "scrap" piles (ex: 2 1/2 " strips, 5" squares, etc.). If I have a fabric for a special project I'm putting it in a large zipper baggie with the pattern. I plan on using the "scrap" piles for scrap quilts.

Like many of you I want to start the new year off with a resolution to make my ufo pile smaller. I don't think I will ever eliminate my ufo pile. I will settle for a smaller one. I haven't decided how to start. I think I will start with a list and come up with a way to prioritize it. I will be reading your comments on how you handle your ufo's. I'm excited to start on January 1st.

Sounds like we're all in very good company! I love the fact that everyone is willing to make up their own rules and goals, and use this group as a catalyst. As I get my UFO's under control, I'm wondering how to incorporate my unused stash into this group. Any ideas? I feel the need to give myself credit somehow when I use up fabric I own, instead of buying more (even though I'm in the business to sell more!)

I have decided that this group is for me. I have been very bad at starting quilting project and not finishing them up. If that is not bad enough i have had several family members whom don't want to finish up a project that they lost interest in give me those too. So last month i decided i have to lower that pile by the end of 2009. This will also help get started on my 2009 Christmas presents. lol. So i have a also a new goal is to learn to machine applique 2 small wall hangings. so but i will not start them till i get this pile down a bit. I am starting to feel like there is too many started and not enough finished. I am working currently on a Paddington Bear quilt for my 15 year old son. Yes i know how old he is but he collects Paddington Bear items along with Hockey and John Deere items. So here is my Plans for 2009.

I want to join in on the fun. I have a few UFO's kicking around and I would like to get them taken care of. I love this idea that you have going. Thanks.

This group is calling me as I really want to finish more projects this year in between the QOV tops I quilt and the customer quilts I do. I love the idea of a spreadsheet to list my UFO but am almost afraid to actually put them to paper - WAY TOO MANY - but think I will give that a try since I am having to clean/reorganize my studio this week. Thanks for the idea Jerzy. I too have been trying to not buy fabric but what a challenge when you see so many great pieces; staying home doesn't work as there are too many online sources. Once the studio is back in shape I have given myself a week off of others' projects to do some for myself so am planning to get at least one of my tops quilted - keep me on track please.

Hi Everyone! My goal is to complete one UFO per month on 2009. There I said it! I have a lot, who knows how many! I also meet with a group every week. We work on whatever we have and help and encourage each other. I guess I need to do a spreadsheet for all the UFO's as well. That will help bring them to mind more often and keep me motivated as I check off each finished one.

YES! Come and play Batikfreak! I think we are going to have lots of fun inspiring each other to finish what we start. One of my new year's resolutions is not to buy any more fabric and use what I have. I have seriously mountains of fabric. I'm trying to be good, but it's hard!

Can I come and play with you ladies???? I have tons of UFO's ( not really tons, but you know what I mean) This year I've promised myself that I'm going to finish these projects and use what I have onstead of buying more. I have lots of stash, kits that I haven't even started and UFO's. Please let me come and play with you!!!!

I'm afraid around here UFO's are a way of life.
I belong to a group that meets every Tuesday from 11 am to 2 pm and
we bring whatever UFO we want to work on and sit and chat and work.
Its really a great way to stay in touch, chat and get something done.
Its also in a large room with plenty of space to lay out, bring your machine,
etc. We don't have any set number of projects to complete, just bring
or begin what you want. Its a great way to encourage each other to
finish up those ufo's and also a great way to exchange information.
SO here I am looking for extra oomph to keep me on track to get those
ufo's finished and outta here!!!
