What this group is about

I don’t know about you, but I have too many things started. Join me in my quest to get finish what I’ve started. The deal is, for every 2 projects I finish, I get to reward myself by starting something new. You can make your own rules, or give the group ideas for new rules as we go. I think it’ll be fun to ask this group for advice on what project to wrap up next, show my progress with photo’s, get motivation from each other when I want to break my own agreement (trust me, I am weak willed when it comes to new projects).

1. No purchase necessary
2. Timeframe: this is an ongoing group with no defined end time.
3. If you are not a member of our Quilt with Us Community yet, click the "Signup and Join" box in the upper-right corner. Once you're a member, you will see a green plus sign and a link to "Join Karen's UFO Quilt Along" in the upper-right of the group page. Clicking on the link will allow you to join this Quilt Along.
4. Post questions, project feedback, and pictures of your progress.

TUFO - means Tuesday UFO - those of us interested try to make a small dent in whatever UFO we are working on. Tuesday is simply the day the Connecting Threads gals get together to sew and craft...you can make it any day you like, but we got a kick out of the title. Once in awhile we can't make it on Tuesday so we move it to Wednesday - yup WUFO. Report here what you are planning to work on, then the next day, let us all know how you did. Nothing is required, it's just for fun.

Hi Gmakitty!  Of course you're welcome here!  Happy to hear that you're doing better after your strokes!  Would love to know how you're doing and what happened!

After  I rearranged my sewing room a couple of months ago I put a lot of UFOs in to drawers of an entertainment center I moved back in there.  So the other day I decided to go through the drawers & see if there were projects that I could finish fairly quickly.  I found 4 log cabin blocks that I pieced on New Year's Eve 2003 as part of a mystery quilt.  All of the directions were still with them, but the mystery ended up being 4 placemats that would have a log cabin block with a block with a daisy & flower pot appliqued on to it next to it.  I didn't need any more placemats which is probably why I never finished this project so I decided to make 4 more log cabin blocks plus a plain one that I machine embroidered a butterfly on to.  I'm calling this quilt "Papillon" which is French for butterfly.  I have the label & hanging sleeve made, but just not stitched on yet.

Happy Mothers' Day!

Beautiful roses, Cora.  Congratulations Connie - 2 great finishes!

I was volunteering on the QOV table at our local quilt show.  QOV was selling hug blocks as a fund raiser.  Afterwards I looked at all the quilts and visited all the vendors.  I only bought 1 panel and lots of thread Aurifil and Bottom Line and prewound bobbins with Masterpiece thread.  I  usually buy my special threads for machine quilting there once a year.  For piecing I use CT Essential Threads.

Thank you Karen!

I just now got home from a UFO class at Kiki's Quilt Shak.  I called Sewcoiety.  There are about 15 of us that get together every 2 weeks, and just work on our projects, visit and have a great time.  Very relaxing.  I just started another string quilt with all the leftover patriotic strips.  Plan to go through my bins tonight and see if I missed any.  I am cutting them into 2.5 x 4.5 inch bricks and plan to sew them together as you would a bargello.  We shall see how it turns out.

Right now, just plain tired, time for some iced coffee.

Great progress Donna and Elizabeth!  Me?  Oh yes, I started something new yesterday, LOL!  Well, in my defense, I'm going on a 4 day quilting retreat next weekend and I wanted something fun and new.
