What this group is about

I don’t know about you, but I have too many things started. Join me in my quest to get finish what I’ve started. The deal is, for every 2 projects I finish, I get to reward myself by starting something new. You can make your own rules, or give the group ideas for new rules as we go. I think it’ll be fun to ask this group for advice on what project to wrap up next, show my progress with photo’s, get motivation from each other when I want to break my own agreement (trust me, I am weak willed when it comes to new projects).

1. No purchase necessary

TUFO - means Tuesday UFO - those of us interested try to make a small dent in whatever UFO we are working on. Tuesday is simply the day the Connecting Threads gals get together to sew and craft...you can make it any day you like, but we got a kick out of the title. Once in awhile we can't make it on Tuesday so we move it to Wednesday - yup WUFO. Report here what you are planning to work on, then the next day, let us all know how you did. Nothing is required, it's just for fun.

This quilt has been a long term UFO,, close to 20 years.  The stars were completed early on, but I just kept putting the border off for another day.  Pattern is Civil War Star by Julia Hale of Bits 'n Pieces in Wayne, Michigan.  I love stars and applique.  I can't do any hand quilting anymore,, so it has been finished by a LAer.  Now to find the binding material!!!

Thanks Amanda.  I haven't thought of dying cross stitch fabric,  I haven't cross stitched in many years.

Lovely quilt, Sherri!

Your wall hanging is so cute, Janet, I have wondered that, too, something that would a take me a couple hours to finish and it has sat in a plastic tub for 4 or 5 years, just silly! I am continuing to work on my older UFO's too.

Fabric dyeing must be in the air right now, I just bough some cross stitch fabric to try my hand at dyeing. Should be fun.

Thanks Sherri. I am seriously thinking of dying some of my own fabrics this summer.
Karen, I agree that Donna is a fun teacher. I enjoyed her lecture & trunk show very much as well.

Sherri, beautiful quilt and keep on healing!  Janet, Donna is a wonderful teacher - great question, hahaha!

I think we could all ask ourselves that very question Janet.  But your quilt is beautiful.  I have so few solids and its something I need to concentrate on building in my stash.  I may go back to dying again.  But not until I am fully able to move my shoulder.  \

A while back I was reorganizing a storage area & found a box with fabrics, pattern & 1 block I had made in  a class about 6 years ago with Donna Lynn Thomas.  So I made 3 more blocks and turned them in to a small wallhanging called Falling Leaves.  The only question I have to ask myself is why in the world did I not finish this sooner?

Very pretty quilt Sherri.  I'm happy to hear your broken wing is mending.

Pieced this many months go,  then it was at the Long Arm quilter for a month.  Got it back after I broke my shoulder.  but managed to stitch the binding on and hand stitch it down with a broken wing.  I am  A  MONTH into healing so it wasn't as hard as it sounds.  PT is happening now to regain strength and Range of motion.

connie, I like your border treatment.  I don't care for solid strips of fabric for a border,  I often think when I see quilts in magazines "what were they thinking when they chose that border fabric:"

I am working on a pieced border now for my latest scrappy.
