What this group is about

I don’t know about you, but I have too many things started. Join me in my quest to get finish what I’ve started. The deal is, for every 2 projects I finish, I get to reward myself by starting something new. You can make your own rules, or give the group ideas for new rules as we go. I think it’ll be fun to ask this group for advice on what project to wrap up next, show my progress with photo’s, get motivation from each other when I want to break my own agreement (trust me, I am weak willed when it comes to new projects).

1. No purchase necessary
2. Timeframe: this is an ongoing group with no defined end time.
3. If you are not a member of our Quilt with Us Community yet, click the "Signup and Join" box in the upper-right corner. 4. Post questions, project feedback, and pictures of your progress.

TUFO - means Tuesday UFO - those of us interested try to make a small dent in whatever UFO we are working on. Tuesday is simply the day the Connecting Threads gals get together to sew and craft...you can make it any day you like, but we got a kick out of the title. Once in awhile we can't make it on Tuesday so we move it to Wednesday - yup WUFO. Report here what you are planning to work on, then the next day, let us all know how you did. Nothing is required, it's just for fun.

Cat Lady, machine quilting for sure.  Perhaps a few big stitches by hand in the wool areas.

Cute quilts Sherri & Karen.  I love the blurb about the fabric Sherri.  Wool applique is one of my favorite techniques.

Congratulations Karen!  It looks great.  Will you hand or machine quilt it?

Squeeeee! My 2 year old UFO quilt top is finished! I started it in a class with Kim Diehl herself, and it was my first experience with wool appliqué. It's from her book Simple Graces and I LOVE it!!! Sew happy!

Now I need to go dig around for some backing and batting.  I want to quilt it NOW!

TACKLING  some of my unquilted projects this week.  PIeced this one about a year ago.. after I found the cutest mouse fabric on our travels in the Upper Penninsula of MI.  Couldnt resist it.  and decided to make a cat and mouse baby quilt.  Looked for some whimsical cat fabric,  and finally found this in the marked down section at JOanne;s.  Perfect ,  the right color and all. So took it home.  but realized once I began cutting it up for the blocks it was not cats,  but raccoons... So now it is the coon and mouse quilt.

My friend Lou Ann & I used to be co-owners of a Yahoo quilting group called The Stitching Bees.  Our members did a lot of block swaps & over the years I have been slowly, but surely getting the block sets sewn in to quilt tops & then eventually quilted, bound & labeled.  Here is a pic of the largest quilt I made from one of those sets.  This quilt is 104" x 116"!  My friend Becky quilted it for me about 3 months ago, but I kept putting off doing the binding because the quilt is so heavy.  The other day I finally decided to just get it done.  I managed to hand stitched down the entire last side tonight while watching tv.  Now it has to wait for me to buy a new king size bed for it to go on.

Great news Donna.  I do the majority of driving too due to my husband's diabetes.  It does get old doesn't it?!

Today I decided to start sewing blocks from a swap with the Piece Around the World group a few years ago in to a top.  Should have it ready to be quilted by tomorrow.  I'm doing what I did last year - making the tops during the 1st half of the yr & then trying to get them all quilted during the 2nd half.  This time I am going to do some quilting by check though as I have a couple of tops that my friend Becky will be able to add her magic touch to & it will look better than anything I could even think about doing!

Glad to hear the good news Donna....hope you're enjoying your sewing time.

I haven't done a whole lot of sewing the past few days. My hand that I did not have carpal tunnel surgery on has been bothering me. I thought it was feeling better till I mowed yesterday, but that had to be done. After several years of drought, now it is raining a lot and that makes the grass grow. But everything is green and beautiful!
