What this group is about

I don’t know about you, but I have too many things started. Join me in my quest to get finish what I’ve started. The deal is, for every 2 projects I finish, I get to reward myself by starting something new. You can make your own rules, or give the group ideas for new rules as we go. I think it’ll be fun to ask this group for advice on what project to wrap up next, show my progress with photo’s, get motivation from each other when I want to break my own agreement (trust me, I am weak willed when it comes to new projects).

1. No purchase necessary
2. Timeframe: this is an ongoing group with no defined end time.
3. If you are not a member of our Quilt with Us Community yet, click the "Signup and Join" box in the upper-right corner. Once you're a member, you will see a green plus sign and a link to "Join Karen’s UFO Quilt Along" in the upper-right of the group page. Clicking on the link will allow you to join this Quilt Along.
4. Post questions, project feedback, and pictures of your progress. NEW To show your finished UFO in this slideshow, If you have finished a UFO, post a picture to your own photos, add a "tag" in all lower case. The tag should be " ufo" (don't type the quotation marks). I'll troll regularly and add them as I see them! Note, the slideshow only holds 100 photos and our industrious group has passed that number! As I add new projects, I am deleting the oldest. Now we can all applaud our progress more easily.
5. Cheer on your fellow quilters as you go!
6. TUFO - means Tuesday UFO - those of us interested try to make a small dent in whatever UFO we are working on. Tuesday is simply the day the Connecting Threads gals get together to sew and craft...you can make it any day you like, but we got a kick out of the title. Once in awhile we can't make it on Tuesday so we move it to Wednesday - yup WUFO. Report here what you are planning to work on, then the next day, let us all know how you did. Nothing is required, it's just for fun.

I spent New Year's Day digging out all my UFO's thanks to joining this group. I, too, put them in the 2 gal. ziplok bags. I can see at a glance what is in it and they stack well on my shelves. A friend called while I was doing this and asked if I'd like to go to a quilt retreat in a couple of weeks. Would I!!!! It's at a beautiful retreat center in southern Minnesota and they had 2 cancellations. I just can't wait! I'm not going to take ANY new projects along - UFO's only. Yippee!!!!!

I'm finding so many UFOs while redoing my SR and have been putting the pieces and parts in zip locks. My question is this ... how do I handle situations when something comes along that says "try me - now"? I'm getting interested in the crazy quilting on another board (with lots of tutorials), One Block Wonders, knitting socks, new BOMs, etc.? Help!!!

Hey all, in the process of re organizing and making a list. Really like to get back into my log cabin and this looks like the place to be...

I usually stick with the process until the quilt top is finished, but I have a heck of a time actually getting the tops quilted. If it weren't for my quilt guild's annual quilt show, I might never actually finish anything!

Happy New Year! Wow is this the perfect site for me. I have started rearranging my sewing room, look at all the UFO's and ask myself when am I ever going to get back to these projects? I think that Karen's idea of finishing 2 projects, and then reward yourself with one new is great! Happy Quilting!

wow, just quickly reading thro comments. Sounds like my kind of place where I am not alone. I did start organizing projects into separate shallow plastic bins with lids, but now I have a pile of those sitting in my way, plus a huge Rubbermaid tote under my new cutting table. My son-in-law (married to youngest daughter) redid the old bedroom after my youngest son moved to Seattle. I still keep running out of room because, along with the children of my youngest daughter, my oldest grandchild keep coming to roost. Only place left for a while is one corner of my sewing room. Sigh. But it will get better - have great plans for this room. Happy New Year everyone - happy quilting

i fit right in here! i have about 17 ufo's on the go. my big problem is the quilting part. i have the tops completed and ready to quilt, but hate trying to quilt them on my machine, so they just sit about for months (years in some cases!) until i've gotten up the gumption to tackle them. then i get frustrated and stop before i've even really started! argh!!!!!! no more!!! 2009 is the year i get the dang things done!

This is the group for me! I rarely finish projects since I don't get to sew often and I lose my excitment about a project. Then, I just start another that happens to catch my eye. I'm setting a goal of finishing 4 UFO's in 2009. Some are large time consuming hand quilting. I like the idea of finish 2 before starting a new one so I'm going to set that rule for me too. I have many purchaced but not started projects so another rule for me for 2009 is start & finish 2 of the stash projects before purchasing another. Whooo-eee that's alot of rules on my favorite hobby! I believe this will help motivate me.

All I can add to the comments that I have read is " I found my people". Lovers of fabric and the creative ideas required to transform the "goods" into quilts, throws, bags and all. What we need is more time and hopefully each other for motivation and inspiration. 2009 her we come.!!

I bought my daughter Bonnie Hunter's book for Christmas. I had to start a quilt from it. Now I have to finish it! I gave her the book and don't have the instructions....good grief, with all the snow and since Christmas was on hold I should have sewed fast. Right?
