What this group is about

I don’t know about you, but I have too many things started. Join me in my quest to get finish what I’ve started. The deal is, for every 2 projects I finish, I get to reward myself by starting something new. You can make your own rules, or give the group ideas for new rules as we go. I think it’ll be fun to ask this group for advice on what project to wrap up next, show my progress with photo’s, get motivation from each other when I want to break my own agreement (trust me, I am weak willed when it comes to new projects).

1. No purchase necessary
2. Timeframe: this is an ongoing group with no defined end time.
3. If you are not a member of our Quilt with Us Community yet, click the "Signup and Join" box in the upper-right corner. Once you're a member, you will see a green plus sign and a link to "Join Karen’s UFO Quilt Along" in the upper-right of the group page. Clicking on the link will allow you to join this Quilt Along.
4. Post questions, project feedback, and pictures of your progress. NEW To show your finished UFO in this slideshow, If you have finished a UFO, post a picture to your own photos, add a "tag" in all lower case. The tag should be " ufo" (don't type the quotation marks). I'll troll regularly and add them as I see them! Note, the slideshow only holds 100 photos and our industrious group has passed that number! As I add new projects, I am deleting the oldest. Now we can all applaud our progress more easily.
5. Cheer on your fellow quilters as you go!
6. TUFO - means Tuesday UFO - those of us interested try to make a small dent in whatever UFO we are working on. Tuesday is simply the day the Connecting Threads gals get together to sew and craft...you can make it any day you like, but we got a kick out of the title. Once in awhile we can't make it on Tuesday so we move it to Wednesday - yup WUFO. Report here what you are planning to work on, then the next day, let us all know how you did. Nothing is required, it's just for fun.

I have a quirt - I like making lists and then crossing the things off of the list, both quilting and sewing projects and can you believe it Housework.
Would this be boring to start a group where we could all post our one liner accomplishments, they should be4 written down some where so that we know we have been ambitious after all, I even forget what I just finished almost as soon as I make it. So we can add both quilting, sewing, and housework to our one liner lists, wouldn't it be fun to see what others priorities the others make for themselves. So every time you clean you get a one liner, every time you sew for a while you get a one liner, every time you well you get the idea -- personally I find that if I read that others have accomplished a lot, then I want to too, So it contagious. bg Would this be fun to try such a group to anyone else or do I have to continue doing mine on my own list at home.
BTW, I cleaned my laundry room, its meticulous. I need a shower. bg

I am left handed and I teach a lot of right handed people how to make quilts. And yes, the mirror image concept is correct. I have often thought that in demos, it was sometimes easier for me to comprehend what was being done, as the teachers right hand did what my left hand was supposed to do. I was told once that left handed people could not use a sewing machine because it was designed for right handed people. I just told them that was the funniest thing I had ever heard. I think the person that said it, just did not want to learn how to use a sewing machine.

For TUFO, I will be finishing a table runner for a holiday gift for my aunt in Illinois. It's Ribbon Stars from "Lessons From Mama" by Atkinson Designs (Terry Atkinson). So far it is going together like a breeze.

Cheri, my left handed sister learned to crochet that way. She sews, but I've never heard her comment about that. Come to think of it, sewing machines are pretty much designed for right handers, aren't they? Maybe we should design a left handed machine. LOL

If I may say so, it is so important to label each and every quilt with your name and the year, I have been told that if they survive 100 years and if you have pictures of both the quilt maker and the receiver of the quilt (its history), it brings up the value of the quilt. I don't journal, but I do label each and every quilt, I am taking more pictures than just one but several of the front and the back, the label and I've gotten smarter by ensuring at least the recipient is in the photo. Plus I load my pics into my camera album and on webshots, and other places temporarily, I love them when they are done, they aren't perfect but they are mine. Maybe some day.

Not something I've done, but I've heard that when a lefty is teaching a righty (or vice versa) you should sit facing one another (rather than next to one another)and picture the other person being a mirror image of yourself.

Glad I could help ladies, sometimes some little something somesone says does spark a memory and reminds us of how we wanted to do it, I never tried to keep up with how long it took me because I am so slow sometimes that it would just depress me, but I do try to take pictures of the finished product although I am a little behind on getting them into the book....that could be a good project for this month....I helped my friend put a twin quilt together yesterday, and she wants lessons in how to sew on a machine, she has never done that and she is just learning to hand sew....and she is left-handed, She want to quilt this one for her DGD and I am just not sure if we can do it or not, I am not a lefty and I keep smiling and saying "sure you can do it" while I am thinking "Lord, what have I gotten myself into" any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...In the meantime, its into the shower and off to the Dr. to see it everything is still ticking and in the right place....Have a great day ladies...God Bless

Rebecca, you have reminded me that I have a quilt journal somewhere! Duh! I don't even remember when last I wrote an entry...I must find it...I used to draw a simple design and glue fabric samples and then put a finished picture in the journal and tried to keep track of my time working on the quilt...the last was the hardest part for me...I'd always just sew and forget to mark down my time...thank you! I'm going to try and find it! LOL! Hope everyone has a great day today!
