Irene, for repetitive designs, this sounds like a great idea. You can make several cut-outs to use over and over until they quit sticking. I'll give this a try. Thanks.
Are your encoders behaving? I hope you're having fun practicing.

Has anyone tried freezer paper to design their quilt? One gal said she touches the cutout with an iron to her quilt and then quilts around it. They can be reused. If you happen to go onto the freezer paper it does not hurt anything. I tried it and think it could work. Practice practice practice LOL

Have you seen the Longarm University site using the Gammill machine? The method should be the same. I know having the needle down at the starting place helps before you change rows. I will look again for the site web address.

irene, i've had my lizzie set up for almost a year now and still have lots to learn. unfortunately, with a toddler, i find i haven't had anywhere near enough time or energy to spend working on it. but i do love it as i'm sure you will too!

It seems my husband was able to get the encoders to read right and I had the tension a little tight and needed to raise the takeup bar a little. So now I can practice more. I like the machine but have more to learn for sure.

The Lizzie stitch is your stitch regulator. The encoders are the wheels and connecting wires that tell the machine how fast to go as you maneuver the machine around. Issues with the regulator are usually encoder problems. Replug your encoder wires. Make sure there are no snags that hang up your movement. Clean the encoder wheels and the metal poles they ride on. I had problems with my encoders when my machine was new. They finally sent me new wires. Let us know what and how you're doing to resolve the problem.
Problems you have when you're new to your machine always make you feel that it's operator error. But, that's not always the case. Problems can be resolved. It just takes persistance and someone to guide you through the repairs.

You guys are great support. Right now we are having an issue with lizzie stitch. It will be resolved and worked fine until then. Lots to learn.
