Mystery Quilt 2013 Quilt Along

Information

Mystery Quilt 2013 Quilt Along

To celebrate National Quilt Month in March, Connecting Threads will offer a Mystery Quilt 2013 Quilt Along. This is our first Mystery Quilt and promises to be lots of fun for all. We think you will enjoy making this quick and versatile, three-part pattern, suitable for beginning and experienced quilters. The catch is that you won’t know what the quilt looks like until Part 3!

The finished quilt will be a lap quilt or throw, approximately 51-1/2" x 68-1/2".

You will need an additional 3-1/4 yards for a three-pieced back.

Binding - At least 250" of a continuous strip.

This would not be a good first quilt. Having said that, it is an instructional pattern. Each section is accompanied by detailed notes and photos for each step. Some of the piecing is very easy, some requires more precise work... but Ann provides many hints to help you be successful. The quilt is for a confident beginner with experience sewing 1/4" seams.

I went to a retreat in April and there was a member that was making this mystery. She used the fabric that you recommended and it looked awesome! I don`t see her posting on here but thought you would like to know.

She finished it at the retreat and we were all so impressed, when she valiantly swung it off the ironing board with her last press to present it to us, only to find that one end was pieced the opposite way. Honestly it looked great so we convinced her not to change it! so she has a personal spin on a great mystery. Great pattern!

Well I finally got back to sewing my top together and will post pictures on the photo page and also my page.

Linda, I think I would make at least part of the blocks the same so it would look more uniform but then, I would have to see the quilt to know for sure.  I am not the most experienced quilter so someone else may have a better idea then me.

Get well soon Gayle.  Awful to be sick.  Congratulations on finishing your quilt; can't wait to see it.

Just wanted to pop in and let you know that I have finished my top for the first of my mystery quilt alongs.  I still need to put together the second one but I have been so sick that I can hardly hold my head up.  I will post a pic as soon as I can get one taken and finish up my second quilt along mystery project and post a pic of it.

Thank you Ann! It is a great pattern! Your instructions and fabrics selection tips were excellent. I really enjoyed this project and intent to make another one soon!

My work here is done, my thanks to Ann again, and I've enjoyed the comraderie with all of you.  Until our next sew along on Connecting Threads,  may your stiches be many, your seams straight,  and your blocks square.

Thanks Ann for this great mystery quilt. I was not planning to start a new quilt, but after seeing the detailed fabric choice list. I ended up in my sewing room looking for the possible fabric combination.

The project was fast. The weekly work on it was not too demanding (although, I completed each part a day or two after the next part was available). When I found out that we have some star blocks to make, I knew this could be a winner project. But the finishing border was even a better surprise!

Thanks for all the ironing instruction too.

Your objectives were fully met on this Mystery quilt and I have a quilt top in record time with an amazing result.

Thank you so much!
