Mystery Quilt 2014 Quilt Along, the Connecting Threads National Quilting Month activity, is officially winding down. This will be my last administrative blog for this year's quilt along. Please know that group members may continue to post comments and questions for a long time. I will respond on the Comment Wall regularly for many weeks, tapering off over time.
Photos of Part 3 blocks and finished quilts/tops maybe posted on the Part 3 & Beyond Members Photos discussion under the Discussion Forum. Spoiler Alert! If you haven't finished the first three parts of the Mystery Quilt 2014 Quilt Along, you will want to wait to to look at the photos to maximize the mystery quilt experience.
Error in Part 3
There is is small typo in Part 3, page 5, Step 19. The dimensions should read - Make 2 ~ 2-1/2" x 40-1/2". The pattern links have all been corrected.
Starting Mystery Quilt 2014
It is possible to participate in Mystery Quilt 2014 at any time. Last year, another 35+ people became members to work on Mystery Quilt 2013 after the quilt along officially ended.
Other Quilt Along Activities
Also, a new Mystery Quilt 2013 Belated group has been formed with current members who want to go back and do last year's mystery quilt.
Some members are going to make the Perfect Points Sampler, from 2012, to work on maintaining sharp points and straight diagonal lines within and between blocks. All the links are still active for the Perfect Points Quilt Along. Fabrics for it can be auditioned in Kit Builder and the pattern can also be downloaded for free here. Don't forget the Perfect Points and the Positioning Pin tutorial that accompanies the pattern.
Designing and writing mystery quilt patterns is a unique challenge. This was the second mystery quilt for Connecting Threads and myself. My criteria for a mystery quilt design included:
Hopefully, Mystery Quilt 2014 met most of these criteria. I have already had requests for Mystery Quilt 2015. I need to recuperate from this one before thinking about next year. I will be on the lookout for a design suitable for another mystery quilt adventure...maybe even a scrappy one! No promises...but I will try.
A huge thanks to everyone who participated in the Mystery Quilt 2014 Quilt Along! You have been a chatty, supportive, and fun group! Just because my administrative blogs are completed, doesn't mean the group ends. I hope to continue hearing from many of you!
Good Mystery. I would like to post a picture but not sure where to put it.
I made mine in patriotic colors and added another border to bring it up to size. I would have liked to use more gold and or blue but used all I had.
