To celebrate National Quilt Month in March, Connecting Threads will offer a Mystery Quilt 2016 Quilt Along. This is our third Mystery Quilt - yes, we skipped 2015 - and promises to be lots of fun for all. We think you will enjoy making this three-part pattern. The catch is that you won’t know what the quilt looks like until Part 3!
What are the dates of the quilt along?
3/2 - MQ2016 - Fabric Selection
3/16 - MQ2016 - Part 1
3/23 - MQ2016 - Part 2
3/30 - MQ2016 - Part 3
4/6 - MQ2016 - Conclusion
What is the size of the finished quilt? It will be a lap quilt or throw, approximately 57-1/2" x 69-1/2".
Where will I find the pattern?
Each week's pattern and related tutorials will be available as PDF downloads in the Quick Link section and Discussion Forum below.
What is the skill level of this quilt?
Borderline of Easy/Intermediate. This would not be a good first quilt. A confident beginner, with experience sewing 1/4" seams, may find the quilt a challenge but doable.
How do I select my fabric?
Mystery Quilt 2016 Fabric Selection Suggestions Revised 3-3-16 PDF
Any special tools required?
General quilting supplies
81639 Omnigrip Neon 6-1/2" Square Ruler (optional)

I am a long time member of "Quilting With Us" (QWU). I used to give virtual workshops here. Like many others, I have ventured out as QWU became more quiet.
We are getting the warning that QWU is at risk of being disabled. I fear this is a sign that QWU will one day be no more.
It has become like family here and the thought of losing the friendships we have developed has giving me a sad heart. Like many dark clouds, there is a silver lining. When I ventured out, I created a quilters social network, much like QWU. I never mentioned it, for it was a conflict of interest. However, in this dark hour, it is time to let others know there is an alternative. It does not have to end here.
I would be honored for QWU members to join "Pattern Pastiche". If needed, we are more than happy to create a group for your new home.

Thanks for the response Kathleen. I just now posted it on the main page.
I tried to do a search for Lasting Legacy group but didn't find it. Was that a mystery quilt too? I must admit I sign up for them, get supplies, and then never get much beyond that! Jackie, maybe you can post your question on the main page. Someone there may be able to direct you.
There wasn't a new mystery in 2017 that I am aware of. Hopefully there will be another one. I really enjoy making the mysteries.
Don't know about the Lasting Legacy group.
Does anyone know what happened to the "Lasting Legacy" groups? It seems to have disappeared.
Any new mysteries since this one?
oooooo I hope the pattern is still there... I conned my sister into finishing my crosstitch picture, I got to the point with it it made me physicaly unable to do it... and now I can do my new favorite thing, going back to wuilting.. and!!!!!! the fun part is, one of our quitilng guild , just moved in to the building I live in/// Gmakitty, giggling with Joy
I posted my purple mystery....must say it was a challenge....I did not have enough of fabric for #5, so did a little substitution....and not enough for #6, so did substitution there as well. There is not a 3D effect that I saw on other completed quilts around the center medallion, but all in all it turned out well! Ann, thanks again, I did learn more....looking forward to the next project!
saw the quilt it is awesome......
Quilt is in the washer....looking forward to another project....but, which one? Thinking......
