Mystery Quilt 2016 Quilt Along

Information

Mystery Quilt 2016 Quilt Along

To celebrate National Quilt Month in March, Connecting Threads will offer a Mystery Quilt 2016 Quilt Along. This is our third Mystery Quilt - yes, we skipped 2015 - and promises to be lots of fun for all. We think you will enjoy making this three-part pattern. The catch is that you won’t know what the quilt looks like until Part 3!

What are the dates of the quilt along?
3/2 - MQ2016 - Fabric Selection
3/16 - MQ2016 - Part 1
3/23 - MQ2016 - Part 2
3/30 - MQ2016 - Part 3
4/6 - MQ2016 - Conclusion

What is the size of the finished quilt? It will be a lap quilt or throw, approximately 57-1/2" x 69-1/2".

Where will I find the pattern?
Each week's pattern and related tutorials will be available as PDF downloads in the Quick Link section and Discussion Forum below.

What is the skill level of this quilt?
Borderline of Easy/Intermediate. This would not be a good first quilt. A confident beginner, with experience sewing 1/4" seams, may find the quilt a challenge but doable.

How do I select my fabric?
Mystery Quilt 2016 Fabric Selection Suggestions Revised 3-3-16 PDF

Any special tools required?
General quilting supplies
81639 Omnigrip Neon  6-1/2" Square Ruler (optional)

I posted my purple mystery....must say it was a challenge....I did not have enough of fabric for #5, so did a little substitution....and not enough for #6, so did substitution there as well. There is not a 3D effect that I saw on other completed quilts around the center medallion, but all in all it turned out well! Ann, thanks again, I did learn more....looking forward to the next project!

Agnes, I love how your quilt turned out.  I like your variation and may "steal" your idea in the future.

Waiting desperately for a "weather permitting" day.  Rain stopped Saturday in time for grandson's wedding, but we were not home so couldn't get pictures taken.  Dark and rainy Thurs and Fri, Sunday and today.  I am getting tired of this gloom.  At least I can rest up from wedding weekend.  Texan daughter may be able to help me tomorrow before she flies back home Wednesday - she is visiting sister-in-law today and both visited 102 yr old grandmother and probably showed her pictures of the wedding.

Agnes - I am glad you liked it. I am sure you will come up with your own variations in the future. Enjoy!
